House of Rice
Today I went to a little shop called The House of Rice. I was excited about going to it; then I got there. I mean, it was all right, but I had imagined something bigger and brighter. It was part of a little mall strip. Out front was a little sale table. There were bed spreads (pretty thin; more like blankets), parasols (some were broken, but I got a pink paper one with birds and flowers painted on, which wasn't broken), and some kitchen utensils. Inside of the store were buddhas, cat clocks (which, oh my goodness, were cute yet expensive: $23 for a little clock), an instant steamer for buns, rice bowls, fans, origami paper, 'kimonos' (not exactly sure what they were), socks to wear if you bought sandals there, spices, sake cups, little charms, rings, lanterns, sodas, pocky, and other miscellaneous things. I got two little cat charms (1.99 each), a little pink kitty rice bowl (4.95), the pink parasol (4.95), a buddha (10.95 [not a chubby one, it's skinny. I'm not sure what kind it is]), a wall scroll (4.00), and a pink paper fan (2.99). All together it was $36. I still have $29 which I will hopefully spend on some cool stuff at the Chinese Cultural Center tomorrow.
