Freedom isn't free. I think freedom is one of those very special things you have to earn. You need to fight for your freedom. You need to fight for it to show that you won't abuse it. You won't do inappropriate things with your freedom. If you do, it would be taken away. Freedom is one of the privileges that we take for granted. But, it gives us so many things! Freedom allows me to be myself. Freedom allows me to voice my opinion. Freedom allows me to grow up with ambitions, and freedom allows me to pursue those ambitions. We're very lucky, because we chose to choose. We chose to be free. If we didn't, then we would still be careful of everything we did. What we did and where, and what we said and to whom had to matter much more than it does now. Freedom allows me to whatever i want, except that I do not violate the rights of others. To me, freedom is being able to step outside of my home and know radical groups and fantasist are not going to blow me up or gun me down. Sure, we have gangs but when you look at the world news, America is the safest place to live. I thrive in Democracy. I adore our process. Sure, there are rotten apples that spoil things but who cares...? I don't have to hide my face as a woman, or sell myself for a bowl of food, or dig in a dumpster for a scrap of clothing. I have the right to own a business, run it with full benefits as a man. I can vote or not vote and not fear getting shot at for either. I can speak about anything I wish to speak about and have no fear of retribution. Freedom is what we make of it. If we base our freedoms on where we live, what we do, what is allowed us, freedom is a very depressing thing. We live in a land of some of the greatest freedoms allowed. Key word: allowed. What do we do :we abuse them. Freedom is who we are, what we do with what we have. We have the freedom to choose. That is our greatest choice. Someone gets in our face, we have the choice to get upset, or get beyond it. People these days make the choice to be offended, so many times. What if we all took one day and made the choice to not be offended by anything, just one day. Choose to take the high ground and think of the possible good. What kind of freedom would that be, freedom from anger.
