The seas were as dark, as the sky was stormy. The ship’s hull took a diving plunge at the crest of each wave, making the sea mates sick to their stomachs. Some of the men were tying the rigs to the main sails, while others slumped over the half deck spewing the slop they ate for sup. The captains harsh commands could be heard over the entire ship, as the crew ran half hazardly to make sure the ship would mount the next crest.
The day wore on as the shipmates tied, and hoisted, and knotted, and spewed. Finally the ocean calmed, and some of the crew went inside to rest. The captain smiled at the little band of pirates. They had come from so little... and were now worth so much... The captain lifted the eyeglass and peered out at the calming sea. There was no other ships in sight... and the captain breathed a sigh of relief for the moment. ‘We may have lost them for now... but they will catch up... they need us...’
