The Duct Tape Queen Packs Her Bags For Harvard?
College is now one of the single, most expensive things in America and the price is continuing to increase by an average of 14% for public schools and a 6% for private schools. 70% percent of all college students can’t afford their tuition and are forced to take out a student loan. So how do we handle the prices? We apply for scholarships.

Not all of us meet the requirement for even one scholarship sometimes. So what do we do? We join the Navy, Arm, Marines, Air Force, and so on. Well, some of us aren’t cut out for that either, so now what?

Well for one thing, if you’re a white male, you have a lesser chance of receiving a scholarship. Again, why? Our country is trying so hard to eliminate sexism, racism, and so on, which it’s actually strengthened.

I fully understand that schools would love a diversity of many students, but it is unfair to provide a grant of money to one individual and not the other simply because they are a female, or Native American, or maybe even Muslim. In a sense, this is all reversed racism. A scholarship provided especially for Caucasians or males, is rarely heard of. Why not give out scholarships based on achievements and not background?

The same goes for the underprivileged. I don’t mean to come off as rude and unethical, but what’s the point if the young student has a child, is single, and living in a ‘rough’ neighborhood? They visibly do not have the potential for college. However, if they are very knowledgeable and are just going through tough times, I see no reason why they shouldn’t receive it. If the person is able to learn and work towards a goal, sign them up, but don’t list off their name just because of where they came from.

Among the scholarships I had listed there’s also a rash wave of scholarships going out to people. These scholarships and grants have nothing to do with athletics or education, whatsoever. I am not lying when it comes to me giving the examples of marijuana, duct-taped outfits, eating contests, and suck-up grants. There are actually schools that hand those out. I’m sorry, but what does Purdue University care if the fastest hot dog eater chooses to go to their school? Or mass farmers of marijuana going to Santa Fe University? Isn’t weed illegal anyways?

Scholarships should be refocused to a person's knowledge and potential.
