Yesterday was.. busy..
I had my first trip to the emergency room (for those who didn't hear at Mary's party)
It started when I woke up at 7:30 to feed my dog.
Shortly after, I realized we were out of dog food.
At about 8:00 I woke my mother and she reluctantly rose from sleep.
Thirty minutes later we were ready to head out.
I was on my way to slip on my flip-flops.. when a horrifing mixture of pain and pressure shot through my abdomen.
This pain, which had been going on for about two months, was thought to be my appendix.
I thought it was rupturing.
My mother knew I didn't complain about pain often, so when she saw my pain stop me dead in my tracks, she didn't waste any time.
I arrived at Methodist 15 minutes later.
After signing me in quickly, a doctor examined me.
He asked the traditional questions and came up with an unexpected answer.
We knew if it was my appendix, it would be removed and that was the end of that,
what we got was much more long term.
To confirm his opinion, they ordered an ultrasound.
At about 12 noon my ultrasound was underway.
I observed the woman performing the procedures expression carefully, working through the pain of the machines pressure.
I saw she was perplexed.
Two more doctors were called into the room to analyze the photographs she had taken.
They didn't answer my mothers questions but instead ordered a CT scan.
At 1 o' clock my CT scan began.
An iodine dye entered my bloodstream via my IV and the results confirmed the first doctors conclusion.
A cyst in my right ovary had formed and imploded.
The doctor suggested putting me on an oral contraceptive to regulate my hormones.
If not, more cysts may form, implode and affect my ability to bear children later in life..
I left the hospital at 4:00
at 6:30 I went to Mary's party.

At least you didn't have to get an MRI.
