When Miss Rose tied him in front of Shalimar without asking, Wolf was glad. That was the way he wanted it.
"Lady Rose, though you will be remaining here, you will be able to experience everything they are doing," Lord Avondale said, looking up at Rose. Looking at Shalimar and Wolf, he said, "Lady Rose will relay orders from me to you as I will not be able to telepathically sync to Shalimar while the two of you are in Wynn. It is vitally important that the two of you do exactly as I say."
"Understood," the two replied in unison.
"It's almost like storming the tower at the end of the river," Wolf said to Shalimar.
"Considering there was news that Wynn had gotten there ahead of us," Shalimar replied. "Yeah, just like. Dangerous, exciting, not knowing what to expect."
"Hrm," Wolf said, leering. "Perhaps if there is time later--"
"Father will you concentrate with the head on your shoulders," Larkin asked, "and not the one between your legs?"
Before Wolf could say anything to Larkin, Shalimar had cast a spell that encased the hatchling in a block of ice covered with ivy. She then molded the ice so that it would prevent Larkin from talking but not interfere with her breathing. "And don't even consider using any form of breath weapon on it, darling. That particular ice block is designed to shrink with any kind of melee or magical attack. Once your father and I finish saving your aunt, the three of us will be having a talk about your lip."
"Is everyone ready?" Lord Avondale asked.
"Yes," Wolf and Shalimar replied.

"Sounds good to me," n** said, closing her eyes to block out the glare of the sun.
