Hopefully this will be where I will post some of the stories (in progress or not) that I have written so far. So, feel free to comment, as long as it's constructive criticism, I don't like unprofitable flaming. ^_^ So, read and enjoy! Love!
A Vampire Story .:Chapter Four:. (Part Two)
I lay there in the bed, almost too weak to move. I was so hungry, my body cried out in thirst as another day went by that I did not feed. I knew that if I denied myself much longer, it would kill me. My mind instantly flashed to a vision that haunted my dreams. I was sinking my fangs into Jane’s throat, her hot blood spurting in my mouth and around the corners of my mouth, down her dove white neck, doing more than satisfying my hunger, but also my desire. My back feebly tingled at the thought, my body too weak to do much else. No. I thought. I could not do that. I had already promised myself since the day that I had spoken to her underneath the maple tree that I would not bite her, not unless she knew what she was doing and was compliant. I would not force her into the world of darkness and damnation unless she did so of her own accord.
I knew she probably would never agree to such a pact, she was too pure, too innocent to accept such an offer. I had decided that if she made the decision to remain a mortal, I could live with that. No matter how much I wanted to spend the rest of my existence with her until the end of time when both our bodies would be burnt to ash. I would let it be her choice.
I weakly clenched my fists as reality swept over me once more. If only I had remained a human, I would not have to worry about all these things. I would not have to worry about how it would feel twenty, thirty years in the future when I would be standing beside her grave clothed in black, my eyes filled with red tears of blood as I laid to rest the only human being I found myself capable of loving. If I was human, I would have no hesitation about getting down on one knee and proposing that we spend the rest of our short lives together. She could remain like she was; she would not have to become a vampire bride.
Still, frustration and confusion swam in my head as I still tried to comprehend this feeling I felt for her. Was this love or simply sophisticated predatory instincts to draw her in? I did not know. All that I knew was I would need to feed or I would do something I would regret forever; the ball was tomorrow. If I wanted to spend as much time as I could with Jane, I would have to feed soon...tonight. Under normal circumstances, I would not have sought food within the house, it would raise too much suspicion. But I had to do it, there was no other way.
*~*
I listened to the sounds of the house. All was quite except for the servants downstairs who were getting ready for bed. Perfect, this would set up my plan even more beautifully. Slowly, I pulled myself out of bed and crawled along the floor and out the door. I was weaker than I thought I was. When I was out in the hallway, I transformed into a bat. It took several times to manage a complete transformation, but it eventually worked.
I weakly flapped my way down the hallway and the marble staircase, through the kitchen and down to the lower level where the servants slept. Some of the maids were still changing, so a lamp was still lit. Luck was on my side tonight. I flopped down onto the bed of one of the younger servants, she looked as if she was only ten.
Some of the other servants screamed when they saw me, but she scooped me up in her hands before they could smash me with their shoes.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take him back outside,” she said in a soft child’s voice.
Once she wrapped herself to go outside, she quietly made her way out of the house and into the cold night air. All the while, she was whispering sweet childish nothings to me as if I was an injured bird, her soft young breath swirling delicately about her face as she carried me onward. She was going to leave me at the gate, but I entered her thoughts, persuading her to go further. I channeled my strength into her so she could break the lock that held the gate shut. She stepped outside the gate doors and quietly shut them behind her.
She kept walking. Deeper and deeper into the woods I led her. Finally, when I had her where I thought no one would hear, I whispered gently to her thoughts.
“Stop.”
She obeyed, like someone under a spell.
“Put me down.”
Once again, she obeyed me, laying me down on the cold hard ground. NOW! My mind told me, and in a second I had transformed back and had her pinned to the ground, her clothes ripped off her body so I could have better access to her throat. She whimpered as I held her head sideways, her body shivering against mine. It did not help. My body was as cold as ice.
“Please, please, sir. Do not hurt me,” she whispered, her body rigid with terror as her body tried to deny the inevitable end it would soon face.
“Truly, I say to you, little one, today you shall be in Paradise,” I replied as I held my fangs to her throat.
I did not get to hear her pleading cry for it was cut off as I sank my fangs deep into her throat and jerked my head back. A large chunk of her neck came back and I held it in my mouth, savoring the honey of her skin and the innocence of her blood. I swallowed it whole, my body tingling with new life as it slid smoothly down my esophagus. I devoured her like a grand dinner feast, her flesh was the meat and the blood spurting from her rendered jugular was the wine. I laid there for a few moments after I was finished gorging myself. I felt so rejuvenated, so alive. Well, as alive as I could get being the living dead.
My goal had been accomplished, so now Jane should not be in danger. I could not wait to see her the night of the ball. She would be so beautiful in her gown and as enchanting as a princess. I smiled as I thought of dancing with her, her scent tantalizing my nose as we moved about the room. I sighed as I pulled myself out of those visions and back to reality. I looked over at the young girl’s corpse. Her skeleton was all that was left. Now to hide the body.
