Is it okay to smile,
Whenever I want to cry,
Is it okay to smile,
When you forget to say goodbye.
I used to never smile,
Inside I'd always cry,
I sometimes used to smile,
The instant I heard goodbye.
It all depended on moments,
The way our days play out,
It all depended on my heartbeat,
The lack of it bringing us doubt.
So is it okay to smile?
To laugh from the inside out,
Or is it wrong to smile,
Am I right to have any doubts?
Now I often smile,
No matter the pain it holds,
Oh how often it is that I smile,
Maybe it'll break the molds,
Why is it that people smile,
What is it that a facial expression holds,
The sensation that pushes,
And bends us to grin,
To laugh and be merry.
I wish I could smile like other people smile,
And not feel so distraught,
I wish I could smile like you do,
If you do,
When you do..
Do we smile alike,
Or..
Apart?
