DEMOX: THE REWRITE

Chapter 1: History Lesson


Demox. Short for Demon Exterminator. This is a job meant only for the worthy inhabitants of Moracius. Moracius is a planet in a far away galaxy. Here is the story of its discovery. NASA had just sent their latest space exploring probes in a different direction than others had been sent.

Six months later, 1 of the 8 sent out returned. Another thing was that it came back virtually unharmed! For weeks, scientists examined the footage and finally found the answer. Alien life! The probe had been captured by a UFO shortly after leaving the solar system. It was taken to another planet sustaining life of its own!

The planet was later revealed as Moracius. The inhabitants called themselves Moracians. It had an almost perfect make up to that of Earth and was slightly smaller. The water to land ratio was about 60/40 unlike Earth’s 70/30. But instead of huge vast oceans and seas, though Moracius has those, it has lots of smaller bodies of water.

But this is all just boring science and junk. This process of Earth and Moracius sending messages back and forth went on for five years. Finally, the two planets decided it was time to meet in person. Earth gathered people to send to Moracius who’d do the same in return.

Two of these Moracius-bound people from America were my great- grandmother and uncle. After surviving the trip there, most of those who weren’t married into the culture. Both my great-grandmother and uncle did this. My great-grandmother married man who was a Demox.

A Battle Demox to be exact. This only one of the three types of Demox. They are specially trained in hand-to-hand combat and weaponry. Next is the Defender. The Defender is trained in the medical arts as well as reconnaissance. Finally there are the Mages. Trained in the magical arts. They can also use healing magic but their magic focuses on the elements.

My great-grandfather specialized in swords. Most Battle Demox specialize in a certain type of weapon. My great-grandmother became a Defender and stayed on Moracius. My great-uncle however moved back to earth with his wife. Our story will stay in Moracius. We follow my great-grandparents, Sarah May and Koram Anokuro.
