This is the first chapter of many to come and I hope you enjoy it.
A explosion pierced Spartan-001 (Robert) ears.
"What the-" Spartan-001 was cut off by sniper rounds going off. He looked up and saw the body of Gunnery Sergeant Edgar Williams laid down in front of the turned over M12-LRV Warthog. When Spartan-001 stood up, he realized that he was missing his helmet, which was only a few feet in front of him. He went over and picked the helmet up and put it on. He surveyed the area as he cross-checked his MJOLNIR V systems, satisfied that it was working fine. Spartan-001 wanted to know the facts. He looked up into the trees where Private Micheal J. Caboose was crouched down and scoping the area for anything hostial that may venture onto this position. Caboose wore standard issue M52B Body Armor, which was painted blue. In the past time, the Privates play when not on duty; Capture the Flag or CTF as many call it.
"Marine Status Report," Spartan-001 said into his mic at the bottom of the inside helmet.
Caboose nearly dropped his Sniper rifle as he heard the Spartan’s voice over the COM. "Sorry Sir," Caboose said as he climbed down the fifteen foot tree. "Other then Sergeant Williams, everything is fine sir." Caboose said as he saluted the Spartan, making his way towards him.
"What happened, Marine?" Spartan-001 asked as he flipped the Warthog onto its wheels and searched for any weapons on it.
"We were hit by a fly-by, Sir," Caboose said. Robert-001 knew what he meant by fly-by.
"Okay, get in gunner," Robert-001 ordered as he climbed into the drivers seat.
"What about Williams, Sir?" Caboose asked as he walked to the gunner seat.
"We have to leave him. We don't have much time anyways," Robert-001 said as he started the Warthog up. "Get in now. We'll come back for him when we have time."
Caboose got in as the Warthog shot forward out of the jungle. They were going straight for at least ten minutes until they came upon the now ruins of Alpha Base. Caboose got out of the Warthog and ran into the base.
"Marine, stop!" Robert-001 ordered, but Caboose didn't listen as he ran into the base. "Damn it, Marine," Robert-001 grabbed his Assault Rifle and ran in after him. Robert-001 caught up to Caboose within seconds thanks to the MJOLNIR Armor making his speed reflexes and strength super-human.
"Marine, stop." Robert-001 ordered.
"My friend is still here, possibly, and you want to stop," Caboose said as he stopped.
"I was going to advise that we go in together, just in case that the Covenant are still here," Robert-001 said as he put his hand onto Caboose's shoulder. "Let me see your Sniper Rifle." Robert-001 ordered as Caboose handed him the Rifle. Robert-001 put the rifle up and scoped in 10x and turned on the night vision, satisfied that he saw nothing he gave the rifle back to Caboose.
"No one is up ahead. But that doesn't mean they’re not here," Robert-001 said quietly as he turned on his helmet lights and Caboose did the same with his. "Be on your guard." Robert-001 went forward, looking into the rooms that were along the first hallway. Robert-001 checked the first room and saw three dead Marines and plasma scorches along the wall.
"I guess that the Covenant came in and just hosed them down with plasma," Robert-001 told Caboose. Caboose ran over to them and searched the bodies for their dog tags.
"Thank god none of them are them." Caboose took their dog tags and put them in one of his pockets.
"Who are you looking for?" Robert-001 asked, as he grabbed ammo for his assault rifle and Caboose's sniper rifle. He also picked up two BR55 Battle Rifles for Caboose and himself.
"I'm looking for my friend Church," Caboose said as he walked out of the room and into another one. Robert-001 brought up Private Churches record:
His name was Leonard L. Church he was a Private and he was working with Spartan-200 on this mission.
"What is with all the privates on this mission?" Robert-001 said to himself.
"Holy s**t!" Caboose screamed as a burst of rounds rang throughout the base. Robert-001 ran to Caboose.
"What the hell is going-" The Spartan stopped mid-sentence as he saw what Caboose screamed about. "What the hell is that?" The Spartan crouched down next to the deformed body. The body jumped back up and sprang forward at Caboose, but before the creature got half way there Robert-001 pulled out his shotgun and shot the creature.
"What the hell is this damn thing?" Caboose said as he kicked the creature over to where it lay on his back.
"I don't know," Robert-001 said as he reached down and removed the dog tags. "All I know is that he was human."
