Story behind Saito

Saito...he's a story. The man slash boy with no clan or family name. He can't remember as it was over 7 life times ago that he even seen his father's face. However, thanks to the angels of Memory, we know what happened to him.

Saito Nagano (Nagano is his real last name) was born in a back-mountain village, son of Elena and Makoto, sibling to Akiyama and Yuuki, Akiyama age 11 and Yuuki age 2 when Saito was born. Three years later, their parents were killed. The village's population was quite friendly, allowing Saito to make many friends even after this, two of which were the Sonozaki twins: Shion and Mion. In rebounce to the no-parent thing, Saito became a trouble-maker, and prankster, something to cover up his pain, which the twins liked. They acted much like Saito, so they were a three-man team when it came to the pranks that happened around the village.

Akiyama was always the mature one, the collected one. He acted like a second father to Saito and Yuuki when their parents wern't around. He also got a job as a blacksmith, apprenticing under Artsian Blacksmith Yasal 'Blackhand'. He would come home everyday for three years, tired and beat, and still take care of Little Yuuki and Saito. The wear down was too much for Akiyama, and he soon left the village, going underground without warning.

'Little' Yuuki was the baby of the family, though 2 years older than Saito. She didn't do much outside of her home, always being with Elena. They always did stuff together, from pottery to gardening. She was also Akiyama's little messanger whenever Saito caused problems. She took their parent's death the hardest, and everyone knew it. They tried to comfort her, but she isolated herself for much of the day every day. When Akiyama left, she lost it, becoming a mute, acting soulless. Saito matured because of this, having to act a caretaker of Yuuki now.

Ages passed and nothing changed, or so everyone hoped. A band of raiders appeared to the village and burned everything in sight. Saito ran to the village's defense, leaving Yuuki in the hands of the village elders. About 30 or so minutes and 50 kills later, Saito seen his sister through the blaze of the fires, just standing there. She stood next to the water tower, which the leg closest to her snapped, causing the tower to fall. Saito, without hesitation, ran forward and pushed Yuuki out of the , though causing his death.

He awoke in the 'Black Plain', an area which souls were nominated for the job he was about to pick up. (Think Riku at Hollow Bastion his first time when the voice spoke to him) A Messanger spoke to Saito, though he could not see him, telling of a way to bring back his people: Do the job of a Dream Traveler and all will be well. Saito naturally agreed to it.

It's been roughly 600-700 years since then. The powers he gained made him immune to the normal aging of a human. As to not gain the suspision of others, he devised a 'Kid Form', which he could use to go back and forth to concel what he really was. He also used the Straw Hat to hide his fox ears and scarf to hide his fox face features, such as face-wiskers and mini-fangs. He now travels from Time to Time to protect the natural balance.

Everytime he's about to slip into another Time, he slowly gets drawn into a deep sleep.
