This is a little about what a Guardian is.
Guardians: Someone who guards, watches over, or protects. They are Creatures/Demons who are given a specific human or creature; also called Kouken, to defend for the rest of the Kouken's life. It is the entire purpose of Guardians to serve and defend, they are not to be compared to angels though because sometimes the Kouken that they are given to defend aren't always good. On rare occasions when Guardians don't get a good Kouken they do collide with other Guardians and when that happens unless one of the Koukens back off the Guardians fight to the death to protect them. Guardians live extremely long lives so it’s not uncommon for them to outlive their Kouken, once they do they can settle down or get another Kouken. The thing about Guardians too is that after a certain point they stop aging outwardly. Then again sometimes their Kouken can live as long as the Guardian so they can't ever have their own life. If a Guardian knowing/willing let their Kouken die then the Guardian would become weak and human, shortening their life span greatly. They would also fall prey to all the sicknesses and frailties of a human.
Location: Guardians used to live in one concentrated area, but now they live all over the place. Some blend in with normal people since each Guardian has a human form to change to, while others enjoy living in the forests and desolate places. In each area though there is always a special building or place that’s held for deciding a Guardian's Kouken. Sometimes it's just a plain field, a temple, or an abandon building.
The Kijutsu: A spherical clear like diamond with all the colors of the rainbow plus black swirling in the center. The Kijutsu is an important part of the Guardians so it contains a massive amount of power and energy. It had so much power and energy because it contained all the power from previous Guardians who had died. It also absorbed the power of the Guardians who had failed their duty, so if you somehow proved yourself to the Kijutsu it could restore your power or give power to a normal person who seemed fit to be a Guardian. The Kijutsu was held in the Guardian temple originally, then some Guardians wanted to live in other places. Once Guardians started to live elsewhere instead of the land they had originally chosen to be home, the Head Guardians took it upon themselves to separate Kijutsu into different gems. This way the Guardians that wanted to live elsewhere wouldn't have to travel half-way around the world to decide their Kouken. There are eight orbs all together, one for each color in the rainbow plus black. At first things were going smoothly with the separated Kijutsu, but after a few centuries the separated powers of the gem would become unstable. This is when selected Guardians from each section would take the pieces of the Kijutsu and meet at the original land of the Guardians and combine the color spheres back into the whole Kijutsu. The powers would take a day or two to stabilize, but after it did the Guardians would separate Kijutsu again and take the orbs back to their section.
Deciding the Kouken: Deciding who the Guardian will protect is a simple process, but the Guardian doesn't know their Kouken till they're an adult. When deciding who the Kouken is the Guardian who is of age enters the special area that has been designated for that section of Guardians, be it a field, a temple or building. The places themselves hold no special meaning, it's what’s inside these areas. In the designated place there's a piece of the Kijutsu that's the deciding factor on who the Guardian has to protect. The orb in general is as big as a man's fist and it‘s spherical. If a normal person or creature got a hold of it they would just think of it as a giant jewel. Anyway, to decide a Guardian's Kouken the Guardian would first take hold of the orb in front of the current head Guardians. Then after all that training the Guardian would direct their power into the orb, after that the orb would pulsate and glow. The Guardian's eyes would become the color of the orb and it would be like the orb was speaking to the Guardian and only to that Guardian. The piece of Kijutsu would eventually stop glowing and go back to normal, releasing the hold it held over the Guardian. Now the Guardian would know who or what it's Kouken was and the Guardian's real challenge would begin.
