Heartbound Memories
Chapter 28
Shouta and Xiaolon's fight was about to begin. Kitty was just standing there, unable to do anything but pray for Shouta's safety.
Xiaolon: I sense a lot of strength in you, young Slayer. Why don't we take this battle elsewhere?
Shouta: Hmph, fine with me.
Xiaolon: Good. Follow me. *flies off towards the mountains*
Shouta: I've got to be careful, this could be a trap. *looks at Kitty* Kitty, you go back to the others. I'll handle this fight. *follows Xiaolon*
Kitty: What?! But, I... NO! There's no way I'm gonna let you fight this battle all by yourself. I'm coming too! *follows Shouta*
Xiaolon and Shouta were at the top of the mountain, getting ready for their battle.
Xiaolon: Tell me, why do you, a Slayer, aid a little dragon half-breed?
Shouta: That is none of your business. Now, are we gonna fight or what?
Xiaolon: Very well, but before we begin, allow me another question. Are you not aware of the consequences for your actions? For breaking the rules of the Slayer?
Shouta: Yes I am. And if that time comes, I'm prepared to face my fate. So, why do you care?
Xiaolon: I don't, I was just wondering why would a Slayer be stupid enough to help someone they shouldn't, when the consequences for such actions, is being branded a traitor and sentanced to death?
Shouta: I don't know, I guess it's because it feels like it's the right thing to do. But even if I did know the reason why I do the things I do, I'd never tell it to you. *takes out his black scimitar, Jigoku*
Xiaolon: So eager to die, are you? *takes out his spear Lingsin* Very well, then let us begin.
While they were at the top of the mountain, Kitty was at the bottom, working her way up.
Kitty: *climbing up the mountain, panting* How the heck did Shouta-kun get up the mountain so fast? Man, I wish I was a real dragon, so I can grow wings and fly up the mountain. Hmm, I could use the Wings of Faith spell on myself to grow wings and fly... but then again, the last time I used that spell, I accidently turned Ryo into a frog. *groans* Never mind. *hears the sound of weapons clashing* Oh no, they started fighting. I'm coming, Shouta-kun! *continues climbing*
The battle between the Immortal of Pride and the young Master Slayer has begun.
Shouta: *strikes Xiaolon with his scimitar*
Xiaolon: *blocks the attack with his spear, fires a blast of phoenix fire*
Shouta: *dodges*
Kitty: *reaches the top, pants* I made it. *gasps* Shouta-kun!
Shouta: Take this! *chants a spell in Latin, fires a blast of light magic at Xiaolon*
Xiaolon: *gets hit* GAH!
Kitty: Whoa! That was holy magic. Very few people know how to use that kind of magic.
Shouta: It seems my magic can break through your phoenix fire barrier.
Xiaolon: I see, but that does not mean you have a chance to defeat me. *fires a blast of phoenix fire*
Shouta: *takes out his white scimitar Tengoku, holds it in front of himself, phoenix fire disappears the minute it touched the blade*
Xiaolon: What in blazes?!
Shouta: My holy sword Tengoku not only heals, but it also absorbs magic attacks as well. As long as I hold this sword, you're phoenix fire is useless against me.
Xiaolon: *growls, lunges his spear at Shouta*
Shouta: *blocks the attack with both his swords*
Kitty: I wish I had a sword, so I could help him. Wait a second! There is a way. I can use a transformation spell on Charlemagne to turn it into a sword. *casts a spell on her magic staff, it transforms into a short sword* Cool, it worked!
Xiaolon: Die! *throws his spear at Shouta*
Kitty: *gets in Shouta's way, blocks the spear with her sword* Hah, take that!
Shouta: Kitty, what're you doing?! You're supposed to be heading back to the others.
Kitty: There's no way I'm gonna leave you here to face him all by yourself. Besides, even if I did leave you here, I have no idea where the others are. ^^;
Shouta: Oh Kitty... -_-; All right. Fine. Just don't leave my sight.
Kitty: Okay.
Xiaolon: So, it's two against one, is it? *his spear disappears in a burst of flames, reappears in his hand* No matter. Not even an army of a thousand can stop me.
Shouta: Heh, fine by me. I like challenges.
Kitty: Not me, I'd like to have an easy battle, just this once. ^^;
Shouta: Are you ready, Kitty?
Kitty: Yea. No, I'm not! My sword skills are pretty lousy, my magic has no affect. I'm pretty much useless in this battle. But I can't leave Shouta-kun, I wanna help him. If only there was some way to break his phoenix fire barrier. That's it! Shouta-kun, I have an idea. Do you think you can use your white sword to absorb the magic in his barrier?
Shouta: Ah! Brilliant idea, Kitty. Here goes everything. *runs towards Xiaolon, slashes the barrier with his white scimitar*
Xiaolon: *barrier shatters* What?!
Shouta: Now Kitty! Use your magic!
Kitty: Okay! *summons lightining onto her sword* Take this! Lightning Jab! *lunges at Xiaolon, stabs him on his chest*
Xiaolon: GAH!
Kitty: Got him!
Shouta: You did it, Kitty!
Xiaolon: *evil chuckle*
Kitty: Huh? What's going on? *looks at where he was stabbed* What the-?! There's no blood spilling from his wound.
Xiaolon: *continues chuckling* Mortal weapons cannot make a god bleed. *pushes Kitty away with just a finger on her forehead*
Kitty: EEK! *falls on the ground* S-So, th-this guy isn't insane? He r-really is a god?! B-But that means, there's no way in hell we can beat him. *stands up slowly* Shouta-kun, we have to retreat, we can't beat this guy. He's unstoppable!
Shouta: No Kitty. You can leave if you want. I won't leave until this madman is stopped. God or not, I will destroy him! *runs back to the battle*
Kitty: Don't do this, Shouta-kun! If you keep fighting him, you'll get killed! Please... *bursts into tears* SHOUTA-KUN!!!
