Chapter 29
While Shouta and Xiaolon continues their fight, Kitty was bursting in tears, telling her friend Shouta to fall back, to stop the pointless battle.
Xiaolon: *lunges his spear Lingsin at Shouta*
Shouta: *dodges, slashes Xiaolon with his black scimitar Jigoku*
Xiaolon: *blocks the attack*
Kitty: *in tears* Shouta, stop this! You can't do this! Gods are indestructible. There's no chance of winning against him. We have to retreat!
Shouta: *ignores Kitty, continues fighting Xiaolon*
Kitty: *screaming* You big stupid dummy! Stop fighting! You don't have to prove anything to anyone. Let's just go! We can't win!
Shouta: *appears in front of Kitty* Don't you ever say stuff like that.
Kitty: And why not? I'm being realistic. Don't you know anything about gods? You can't beat them.
Shouta: I know that.
Kitty: Then stop fighting and let's go back.
Shouta: I can't.
Kitty: Why not?!
Shouta: Because if we retreat and don't stop him, he's going to continue his evil ways and many innocent people will die. Besides, I'd rather die trying than live a failure.
Kitty: I don't care if you're a failure, I just don't wanna lose you. Besides, maybe someone else can handle this.
Shouta: Kitty, look at me. When there's danger, you don't just wait for it to be over or hope for someone to come and save the day, you stand your ground and fight.
Kitty: Yea, but...
Shouta: Let me ask you something, if a stranger was in danger and there was no one else around to help, would you just simply walk away?
Kitty: Well... no.
Shouta: *gently places his hand on her face* If you keep thinking all those negative thoughts, our chances of winning are low. But if you believe we can win, then victory will surely be ours.
Kitty: Really? Even against a god?
Shouta: If you believe hard enough, you can even achieve the impossible.
Kitty: Shouta-kun... *hugs him, crying*
Shouta: *wraps his arms around Kitty* There, there. Its okay. Just remember, no matter what happens to me, I'll always be in your heart. Forever. Now, what do you say we go kick some bad guy butt?
Kitty: *sniffs* Okay.
Shouta: All right, then let's do this!
Kitty: Yea! Get ready, bird brain. We're gonna beat you!
Xiaolon: And how are you going to accomplish that?
Kitty: We don't know, but that doesn't mean we're going to run away. We will find a way to defeat you.
Shouta: That's right. So, shall we continue this fight?
Xiaolon: Yes. Let's. *fires a blast of phoenix fire*
Kitty: *dodges along with Shouta* Aqua Blast! *shoots a blast of water at Xiaolon*
Xiaolon: *blocks the water attack with his wings* A foolish move. *fires another phoenix fire blast*
Kitty: *dodges* Damn, I thought if I drenched him with water, his fire attacks would stop.
Shouta: Phoenix fire cannot be extinguished with water.
Kitty: Then what should we do?
Shouta: I have an idea. Get ready Kitty.
Kitty: Um, okay.
Shouta: *chants a spell in Latin, shoots a blast of holy magic at Xiaolon*
Xiaolon: GAH! My eyes!
Kitty: Oh, I get it! Lightning Strike! *shoots out lightning at Xiaolon*
Xiaolon: *slaps the attack away with his hand*
Kitty: What the-?!
Xiaolon: *summons a bunch of flaming spears, throws them at Kitty and Shouta*
Kitty: AAH! *dodges* Watch out, Shouta-kun!
Shouta: *dodges, runs to him, slashes him*
Xiaolon: *gets hit* Gah! *kicks him away*
Kitty: Hyah! *charges at him, attempting to slash him with her short sword*
Xiaolon: *dodges, grabs her by the collar, slams her to the ground*
Kitty: Ow! Hey, that hurt!
Xiaolon: *gets ready to stab her in the face*
Kitty: EEK! *rolls away, attack misses*
Shouta: Kitty, are you all right?
Kitty: I'm okay. I'm a bit in pain, but I'm good.
Shouta: Don't go attacking recklessly, it's dangerous.
Kitty: Sorry 'bout that. ^^;
Xiaolon: It is time I finished you two off, right here and now. *his spear gets engulfed in flames, it takes the shape of a fire bird* Attack! *bird flies towards Shouta at high speed*
Shouta: Whoa! *jumps up in the air to dodge, but it flies up, slashes him, broke his kitsune mask into pieces* GAH!
Kitty: Shouta-kun! *fire bird starts flying towards her, she's frozen in fear* What the-?! Why can't my legs move? Oh no! I'm done for! *covers her eyes*
Suddenly, she hears the sound of something piercing through flesh.
Xiaolon: One down.
Kitty: Huh? *uncovers her eyes, sees her robe covered in blood, not her own but someone else's, looks up and gasps in horror* SHOUTA-KUN!!!
Shouta: *was standing in front of Kitty, a spear is pierced right through his stomach* Sorry Kitty. *coughs out blood, looks at Kitty, smiles* Guess I kinda screwed up, huh? I'm... I'm so sorry. *collapses to the floor, goes unconscious*
Kitty: NOOOO!!!!! *falls to her knees, crying* Shouta-kun! Please tell me this is a all just a nightmare. C'mon me, wake up!
Xiaolon: *approaching Kitty* That's right, it's your worst nightmare becoming a reality. *suddenly grabs her neck, choking her, lifting her up in the air*
Kitty: *gasping for air, trying to struggle free* Lemme go! Where are you taking me?
Xiaolon: Not to worry, you're about to join your friend soon enough. *holding her above a cliff*
Kitty: *struggling* No wait. *crying in fear* Please don't do this! Please?! I don't wanna die!
Xiaolon: Good bye. *let's go of Kitty*
Kitty: *falls at high speed* AAAHHH!!!
Xiaolon: Just in case... *sends a rock avalanche at Kitty, flies off*
Kitty fell from hundreds of feet, and is buried under a pile of sharp, jagged, heavy rocks. She has lost a lot of blood and has broken many bones.
Kitty: *coughs* Shouta-kun, I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. I should've just stayed out of this situation. *everything's going dark, suddenly hears the sound of wings flapping* What's that noise? Is that the sound of an angel who has come here to guide me to the heavens? Oh well, at least I'll be reunited wiith my long lost loved ones. Chita, Sentaro, Ryo, everyone.... forgive me. I've failed you. *closes her eyes* Good bye...
