On the road again~
Brian sat quietly in the back of the car, twiddling his thumbs as they drove down the dark road. A small boy a few years younger than him sat next to him in the back seat. The boy had short, shaggy, blond hair, and bright innocent green eyes. He wore a black, button down wool coat with matching pants, and a bag similar to Brian’s sat at his feet. Both boys had a green dragon around their necks, Orien, the small miget, oriental with red fluff down his spine, sat perched on Brian’s. Another green miniature dragon with sprite-like wings and antenna sat perched on the other boy’s.

“Brian?”

“Yeah, Tim?”

“How long will we be away from our mamas?”

Ximly let out a sigh at hearing the boy’s conversation.

“Not long Tim….”

“We…. We’re not…. Going back….are we, Brain?”

“Of course not!” Ximly said, shocked at Timmothy’s question. “What in earth would give you that idea?”

The Professor’s boy was silent, and Brian placed a hand on Tim’s shoulder. “We are never going back to that place. Besides, we couldn’t take Yousei or Orien with us if that were the case.”

Ximly looked at the two in her rear view mirror. “That’s right. Besides, you’re going to Granny Brain’s house.”

Timmy’s face brightened partly. Granny Brain was a hoot, even though he had only et her once or twice. “Granny Brain, does she know we’re coming?” Tim asked.

Ximly paled, she had completely forgotten to call her mother… “She’ll be glad to see you either way…”

Brian laughed aloud, and Timmy smiled goofily. “Awesome mum…” Brian managed.

Ximly smiled slightly. At least the boys found humor in the situation. Granny Brain hated last minute announcements…. Let alone arrivals….

“She knows about dragons, right?” Brian asked suddenly realizing he had never brought Orien with him before.

“Aye, of course she does Brian.” Ximly said with a laugh.

Brian smiled, “So we can continue with our studies!”

Tim smiled as well, “Huzzah!”

Ximly smiled at the boys, “Excited?”

Timmothy quickly nodded, “Yes ma’am!”

Brian yawned as Ximly pulled into a service station the next morning. Timmothy was sleeping soundly, and the pupils of Ximly’s eyes were slits, signaling that she was now using the extra reserves of her energy. By the time they got to Granny Brian’s the woman would most likely be in the middle of morphing, but by that time they’d be in the middle of nowhere.

“Tired?” Ximly asked the boy as she turned off the car.

Brian nodded, “Uh huh…”

“Didn’t you sleep?”

“I tried… but I felt sick…”

Ximly sighed, “Looking out the window?”

“At Orien…. Staring contest….”

The little dragon let out a whimper as it blinked rapidly, and Ximly fought the urge to laugh. She was having a hard time with the task, so she got out of the car and closed the door before laughing as she went to the gas pump to fill the vehicle. She cringed as the smell hit her, but it couldn’t be helped, they needed to get to their destination without portaling. The fact that it was expensive didn’t make the experience any better.
