Just some random thoughts
I might use this journal to post my thoughts and observations but there's no telling how often I'll be updating it ;) [mostly in character]
10/30/08-FIRST FULL DAY ON GAIA

[this should have been posted yesterday, but I didn't have the journal up yet]

Well, I moved in late last night. Really just had time to unpack and visit a couple of the shops that were still open. I did get some candy though smile

So this morning I went out to explore the neighborhood, did some trick or treating while I was at it. My first stop was the auto dealership to pick out a new car. Well, flying saucer actually. I just couldn't pass it up. Of course, then I had to go by the DMV to get a driver's license. Surprisingly, the staff was cheerful and willing to help. The test wasn't that hard either. I wish it had been this easy to get a license back home.

After that I drove around town getting things for my apartment. Overall it's a nice little place but I just HAD to get something for those walls. Looked around the shops some more while I was at it. There were some pretty neat things I saw. Most of them seemed way overpriced though, don't know how I'm supposed to afford anything. However, I must admit, I DID buy the collect able for this month. Yeh, it was an impulse buy; I don't normally put down real money like that. Still, the Dreamer's Dust was really cool biggrin I felt like I was getting a good deal anyway...

I think this is the point where I decided to get in on the 'Halloween Hysteria' roleplay. I started out as a human since I figured that would be the easiest. The whole thing was basically a slog-fest, kinda long and very repetitive. However, I have a high tolerance for that kind of stuff and by the end of the day managed to max out my character. More than being boring, there was one thing I really hated about the game. Namely: the lack of targets. It seemed like every enemy on the board was dead before I even got to them. Sometimes you'd be searching for like ten minutes for someone who hadn't been killed. Why they couldn't just add a simple status message to the target list I don't know...

Once I had gotten fed up with the roleplay, I decided to do a little fishing. Took my bait and tackle down to a local pond for a bit of relaxation. I wasn't very good at it and didn't catch a whole lot. Maybe I should try a different bait next time. But then as my dad always said: fishing isn't really about catching anything, though that's always nice. On the way home I stopped in at the arcade to try out some of the games. managed to rack up a couple high scores on pinball too. I know I'll be back again.

Finally, back in the neighborhood I finished out the day with some more trick or treating before dark. Took a lot longer than expected to get the candy I needed. I guess most of the people were out or didn't have candy to give me. I'd egg their houses except that I wouldn't have enough eggs. To top things all off Jack was being a greedy &@$#*! and wouldn't give me anything! Oh well, try again in the morning.

Anyway, it's been a really long and eventful day. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have settled in more and get more familiar with the place. So far, I like what I see; think I might stay a while.
