I couldn't help but feel that same rush of emotion coming over me, as it always did, and always will, as long as I can love I'll never change. Skyler looked at me, his dark blue eyes filling me with butterflies, yet a sadness lingered there and took a heavy toll. He blinked and for a second I thought that he might feel the same, but alas he didn't as he turned and began to run into the surf. "C'mon Ash, the wave is coming in" he yelled to me and I responded in my usual perky "Kay!". The waves crashed upon the shore as Skyler and I ran into the water, the sand flying into the air as we pounded across the beach. Sky was leading the stampede with me following close behind, then came Shane, Rick and Sarah, all running into the waves. Skyler's tanned back glistened in the sun and my heart beat faster and faster as we took off into the water. The rush of emotions overwhelmed me, a scattered mix of hope and sadness, lust and grief, and then it was all gone as The wave approached and all Sky and I thought of was the perfect move, this wave was a killer, we could both see that. The misty spray shot into the air and I was on my board in a few seconds, a quick glance, Sky was on his board too, the start was good, but can we finish it? The funnel of the wave loomed over head and Sky and I rode along it, god this is perfect I thought to myself as the water covered the horizon. I dipped down to Sky's right and suddenly I was at his side, riding along the wave, Sky shot a smile at me and I caught it with the utmost glee. Then he took off and wrapped himself around the wave and was far ahead of me, I laughed to myself "Is he trying to race me?" I leaned forward and shifted my body weight and took off after him. He shot a smile at me and I blushed a little... his tactic worked and I slipped off my board and plummeted into the surf. I called out to him as I sunk down, the cord from my board to my ankle jerked my body around as my board was flipped around by the waves. Suddenly the cord snapped and I was thrown farther down under the crushing waves. I couldn't see anything now, my eyes closed tight and my breath running out as I tossed and turned under the waves, they pushed and pulled me in all directions, my body ached from the strain and I wasn't able swim in this condition. I sunk further into the water as I lost hope, the darkness seemed to fill me and I thought I was done for. A ray of light shot through the waves as a skinny tan hand broke through the water and wrapped around my wrist, pulling me from the abyss. "Sky" I coughed out as he drug me to the safety of the beach and set me down on his towel. I spit up some water and lay there a bit dazed, all the time thinking of how I almost died. "You idiot" sky mumbled, "You had me worried there, for a second I thought I would lose you" His eyes watered a little and he sat down beside me. "Don't worry Sky, you cant lose me even if you wanted to" I let out a slight giggle and turned to face him, my face turned red as I snapped back to my previous position. Skyler was drenched from head to toe and he glistened in the sun, he shook his hair to get the sand out, I let out a tiny "eep" and I covered my face with the towel. He chuckled as he always does and I couldn't help but think of him as I sat there, he had just saved my life and the only way I could thank him was out of the question. "hey Sky" i called out to him with a cracked voice, "yea?" he replied casually. "You're it!" I yelled as i hurled a ball of wet sand at him, hitting him in the chest, I laughed hysterically and took off running along the beach, knowing he was gonna slug me when he caught up, but not caring one bit.
