Val's Riddle
To what is it to human.
For that is spelt your answer.
Where the mermen have swam.
Name not the place.
Underwater now, though on land it was build.
*
But what it was as a whole.
We are old; and we spake.
Neglect the past; use modern language.
A place that has been sweet off the land
Down it has gone, never to be found.
Where intelligence into the sea has doved.
Remember what is human, deer.
The fish, not them, not their domain.

* Changed from 'A place we have dreamed'.

Clues:

It is Atlantis, that is, the place described is, but the riddle tells you not to name it, meaning thats not the answer.

Island was the closest, along with beach, but they're still pretty far. Think though, what do they have in common? As opposed to Lighthouse at Pharos and Venice being significantly farther, but about the same as far.

Tangible.... Tangible... Hum. Hard to say, its really an opinionated subject for this. If you can say a city is tangible then yes. Not any city, but just city in general

First line refers to the adage, 'To err is human.'

The fact that it uses 'build' instead of 'built' is significant.

Nothing to do with silent letters.

The answer is a noun. But not noun itself.
