Dana sniffed the crisp, clean air of nature. and then wrinked her nose in disgust, "what is that smell?"
she turned to her brother, demetri. he blinked a few times
"really, sis. that's the smell of a fresh kill. and it's so sweet. but i guess since you're a "vegetarian vampire". what the hell is that anyway?"
"it means i dont eat blood. period. oh wait, i have to dont i?"
"yea sis. u kinda do, but not all the time. just at least once a month. you can get through this. chill."
dana walked a few steps ahead of me, jumping over large rocks. her ears pricked up and she detected an unsettling sound
"demetri!" she whispered. "do u hear that?"
he nodded slowly, and she turned her head in the direction of the screams. he pressed his finger against his lips.
"when i say go, jump as high and fast as you can to the top of the trees. travel across the trees. but not in a straight way, till you get to a meadow. i'll meet you on the other side, in maybe 30 minutes, or longer. now go"
"but...what is that? and why cant i help?"
"i'll tell you later, and you're not strong enough for this. you never are, since you dont get ur share of blood."
"fine" she yelled. then she jumped to the tops of the tree branches. she jumped branches at a time, making it to a meadow in about 3 minutes. "i'm so slow" she said to herself. "and i know, drink more blood. yucky stuff"
she stared around the meadow, large open airy space with neatly trimmed green lush grass, dotted with pink, green, yellow and orange flowers. she just stared
~wow~ she thought, ~this is perfect~
and then she went to lie on the grass, and suddenly she felt human again. she felt the crisp, dewy grass against her skin. closing her eyes her thoughts went back to a few years ago.
she and her brother were walking home from school, there was construction all down their block, so they detoured down an alleyway. what could happen?
they walked in silence, until her brother grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth, and pulled her behind a dumpster.
Dana bit down on the hand that held her mouth
"OWW!!" yelled Demetri
"Omigoshh" said Dana, "I'm so sorry. Why'd u sneak behind me like that?"
"Shh" he whispered. "There are people back there following us. we are gonna be quiet and tiptoe outta this alley and hightail it home. can u be quiet?"
She nodded her head, trusting him completly. She followed him out from behind the dumpster, to be greeted by 3 men with pale skin, white hair, red eyes, and oh, wait are those fangs?
dana whimpered, turned to her brother and shakily said "those men aren't just men are they?"
"Nope, they're vampires"
They stared at the vampires for a few seconds, then demetri yelled "RUN!"
Dana ran, but only to be cuaght by 2 of the vamps. she kicked one in the shin and he let go, but the other one held her tighter licking her neck.
"Hmm, you smell so good." he said to her
"Hey," the one holding her brother yelled. "No biting, play nice." He chuckled; his laugh cold and hard.
"let my brother go" she said to him "or i will kill you"
The vamp she kicked in the shin finally got up, what a wimp.
he slapped her, grabbed her, and licked her neck, slowly sinking his teeth in her
She screamed. demetri kicked his captor, and got only a tighter hold.
"normally, i like to play with my food, but u know what i'm hungry and you are really pissing me off"
and he sank his teeth in demetri's neck fast and hard, sucking down blood. he lifted his mouth, blood dripping down his mouth, and dripping back down on demetri.
"i've had enough for tonight. i'll come back for some more and next time i think i'll play with your sister" he laughed, and called to the other two, "Enough!"
They stopped their drinking, and dropped her to the ground.
dana struggled to breath, taking in ragged gasps. she watched her brother, and darkness slowly surrounded her.
she woke up, what seemed like several hours later, and struggled to get up. she was tied to a bed ~oh no~ she thought ~they brought me back to their cave~ she looked around, and saw that she was actually in a bedroom, with black dark velvet curtains, iron wrought over the door (huh?) the carpet was cream and fluffy, the bed was a large canopy, and their was a wardrobe in the room (this room soo did not match)...
