I feel sorry for parents. They know so much more than their child(ren) for obvious reasons. Yet, there are so many difficulties in relaying that knowledge to young people who have no conceptual understanding of it. It is like trying to teach an African how to prepare for an Arctic ice storm.
As a result, you have parents being "too tough" on their children just because they know what it will take later down the road. Then the young person feels pounded because they don't see the purpose.
Then there are the young people who try to follow all that their parents "require", but they are unable to meet them and thus feel "incapable." Although, what they didn't know is that their parents probably had just as hard of a time trying to do it.
Same thing applies to any person trying to teach another with less experience in an area.
