Lavi how much he tried to look the other way, he had taken a liking to the girl as well. But maybe it was more than friendship for him. Or maybe not. Novella was a girl nothing like he had seen before. Strong, but her trueself was a little timid. He saw that much. She wouldn't open up, but she did when he held her last night. She didn't say anything though. Maybe she needed a friend. He could do that. But more than that he was hesitant about.
Novella followed Lavi to the cafeteria. She felt a feeling of friendship toward the boy. She felt there was something underneath the feeling though. She knew what it was, but it wasn't something she would dare say aloud or even think about.
Lavi looked over his shoulder making sure she didn't notice him looking at her. He lead her to the large open area with low railing. Novella looked at the place. It was about as big as half the village she had left. A tall dark haired boy with long hair past her.
She saw he was rather to himself and let it go. Lavi lead her to Jerry and was greeted very enthusiastically. "What would you like?" He asked. Novella thought. "Something that reminds me of home..." She thought. She ordered and Jerry happily made it for her. Lavi watched the girl with a real smile on his face.
Novella toke the food and sat down somewhere random. Lavi followed and ate with her. He noticed bookman with dark look on his face. Lavi recoiled knowing he would have to answer for his behavior with this girl. He sighed.
Novella on the other hand was eating and thinking about her new job. She seemed to have to fight those monsters she saw back home. They were the uglest things she'd ever seen. They had a shrill laugh as they killed everyone...tears came to her eyes as she remembered running into the forest. She couldn't go back...well she could but there would surely be nothing left.
Lavi was thinking of something he could tell the old man to get him off his back...he knew all to well who he was and what he did. He hated it. He hated thinking of people only as history or ink on paper.
With this girl it seemed to be different for him.
