Saturday 15th June
As usual, today I was working on the fields. It was very hot. One of the people, on the strip next to me, collapsed from total exhaustion. The reeve came and dragged him away by his feet. He was the fifth person this day. Just as the reeve was leaving, I heard my baby call out. He was hanging on a branch in the big Oak tree. As I spun round to look, a thief was unhooking him. I called for help and leapt over to my baby’s rescue. The guards managed to capture that vile man. Monday he is to be hung in the town square.
