A Blossoming Flame
So...what am I supposed to do here, rant?
My D. Gray Man Fanfic thingy
Here's a part of My D. Gray Man fanfiction. Both my friend xXkrazy_koolXx and I are doing this, so be sure to check out hers too >w<

----------------

Both of the Exorcists were up against only one Akuma now, a Level 3. Allen's left arm transformed into his usual anti-Akuma weapon, a massive white gauntlet. To his right, Azera had activated her Innocence once more and grabbed a chain that was on the ground. An aura seeped from the pores on her skin and onto the slightly rusted metal chain link. It instantly glowed, attaching itself to her arm and transforming into a bladed glove. They looked at each other for a moment, nodded and went in for the kill.
After several attacks on both the Akuma and the Exorcists, Azera rushed toward the monster to make the final move. She swung her blade fiercely at it but the Akuma dodged it. It vanished for a second before reappearing behind the black haired girl and whispering into her ear, "Time to submit, my dear." With that, the Akuma stabbed her in the middle of her back and threw her into the brick and concrete wall.
"Azera"! Allen screamed, seeing his comrade laying face-down in a pile of rubble. He went to go help her, but the Akuma was headed to finish her off. The white-haired Exorcist morphed his arm into a gun, one of his other weapons, and shot the monster until it hit the ground. As the Akuma began to disintegrate, it let out a cackle and weakly spoke these last few words:
"You may have finished ME off, boy, but just wait for Round 2."
Round two...? The thought danced in his mind for less than a second, when he heard the movement of rock. Looking back at the pile of debris, Allen could see black hair and an arm reaching out from a small hole.
"Oh thank goodness, you're alive. I was starting to thin-"
His voice was stopped by the feeling of fingers around his throat. Slowly, the grip tightened and loosened, tightened and loosened. Then Allen could hear a weak voice calling to him.
"Allen...get out of here..."
Before he could react, the grip around his neck tightened once more and he was slammed up against the opposite wall. In front of him was Azera, but...there was something wrong with her. Again, she loosened her grip. Her head gradually tilted upward until Allen looked at her face. Her left eye was its normal light green, but the right had gone pitch black, with the only color being her red iris.
"Run while you still can," she warned him. "The Earl...he's got me in some sort of spell...Run, Allen..." She jumped backward, landing in an animal-like position. A low growl came from inside her chest as Allen just stood there and stared at her in shock.
"The Earl...? No...it can't be real..." Despite his denial, Allen couldn't deny what he saw. He didn't run off; instead, he morphed his arm back to its first form and went it to attack Azera. With his cursed eye, he saw the Earl's image in her demonic eye. She was trying desperately to fight him off, but the Earl had her from the inside. Allen began to swipe his arm back and forth, being as careful as possible not to severely harm her. He couldn't, he'd never forgive himself if he ended up killing Azera by accident. She was avoiding his attacks with such grace that he had no choice but to make a harmful move. Allen caught Azera off-guard in midair and plunged his claw-like hand into her, slamming her into the ground. His feet touched down and brought him straight to the crater. Examining her spirit with his left eye, he saw she'd bee freed from the Earl's grasp. He knelt beside her and moved her jet black hair from her face.
"Hey, wake up. You're safe now." A small grin had formed on his face, but disappeared when he got no response.
"Azera, wake up. It's over, you're free." Still no reply. Her eyes wouldn't even open. Allen's expression began to go sour as he leaned his ear over her heart, listening closely for a heartbeat. No sound. He checked her neck for a pulse. There was none.
"No...no no no no no. You can't be dead, Azera." Tears began to well up in his eyes as he lifted the girl up and began to shake her. "Please, wake up, you have to wake up. You can't die because I lo-" The sound of coughing interrupted his cries. Azera's eyes slowly opened and saw Allen's relieved face. "You're alive..." She weakly smiled at him, sitting herself up. "Yeah, I'm still here." She stood up and stretched, acting as if she'd only been taking a nap. She paused midway through when her eyes caught sight of Allen's now worried face.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again, Azera! You had me thinking you were gone!" His eyes stared down at the ground, near the crater he'd created. "...And I never want to think of you that way. EVER..." He heard Azera giggle and looked up at her. "I'm sorry, Allen. I didn't mean to worry you. You worry TOO much about me, even." What surprised him more than her giggle was what she did next: Allen felt her soft, warm lips gently press against his cheek, immediately making him blush. Now being the frozen one, Azera had to yank his arm and pull him out of the alleyway and onward home. She couldn't wait to just sleep on the train. But the only thing going through Allen's mind was what he'd almost said and done. Those words... "I love you" had come so very close to leaving his lips. And if that wasn't enough to make his face go red, the thought of kissing her back to life was.
