So on Monday, I had to work at Zales from 10 to 4 and it had been a relatively slow day.
Around 4, a customer came in and I decided to talk to her before I left. When I asked if she needed any help, she said, "Yeah, I'm thinking of upgrading my diamond wedding band." She showed me the receipt of the last one she'd bought at Zales and I started showing her 1 carat diamonds. She wanted one with a wider band, so I picked one up with a larger band and she loved it. She also wanted to sign up for a Zales charge card, so I pulled out an application and filled it out.
She got approved for $3000. The ring we had picked out I thought qualified for the trade in, but Jean looked and said it wasn't. I felt kind of defeated, but then Jean came up with a great idea. She pulled out a setting from her 'secret stash' and then pulled a different 1 carat diamond from our solitaire case. This diamond and the setting qualified for her trade in! She loved it and bought it that day! I officially sold my first carat!!
Jean was so f-ing proud of me that she called Amy, our District Manager, and told her the news. Then Amy even talked to me and congratulated me! On my way home, Jean sent me a text saying that she was proud of me! In short, I SOLD MY FIRST CARAT EVER AND I FEEL GREAT!!!!
Hell, I might be the top salesperson in May now too!
