Welcome to Aidan's BRAIN EMPTYING TIME! *catchy theme tune plays* here's your host: Adonis!
"Hi and welcome to the show! I have a computer and I'm not afraid to use it, unlike some people, it seems!"
*show no longer has a studio audience*
"Okay! On to today's topic! Today on ABET we will be talking about the nature of inspiration..."
Or maybe just the fact that I have it and it feels good to be in that place again. The unfortunate thing about my inspiration is it never really chooses something convenient to be inspired about. I guess I'm lucky today in that I am not only inspired inconveniently (long story short: I have the necessary inspiration to conclude a novel that has been in the works since last November but the only copy of it is in the digital hands of a friend 4,000 miles away who seems to be too busy to spend 5 minutes e-mailing it to me) but also in a way that allows my to still vent my creative frustration (I am also inspired to write a story based on my roleplaying setting, Life After Life).
Until such time as my friend can spare the time it takes to eat a sandwich to help me, I guess I'll just write about my post apocalyptic Earth. But the truth is, I would much, MUCH rather be finishing my novel so that I have something that might just possibly stand a chance in hell of getting published.
But there is a success story in my life too. Two weeks ago I discovered to my great pleasure that I have passed my Access course with all 72 possible credits, and will be attending University next year to study English and American Literature & Creative Writing. Great, right? Argh, this means that I have to spend the summer keeping my brain active on books, which means I need the reading list, which means I need to stalk the staff of the English school at the Uni for the reading list (or at least be damned doggedly persistent down the phone to them). I have to get a summer job to save money, sort out my student loans and bursaries, open a Student bank account, and do 10,000,000 other things to set myself for the undoubtedly arduous year ahead.
Wish me luck.
I've got some writing to do, so "it's time to wrap up this imaginary, prizeless gameshow with the usual! See you all next time!"
*bad theme music plays again, ingraining into your mind and bugging you just when you thought you had forgotten the sound of it*
