Edward Everett Hale
I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.
---
I want the end.
Why?
A volcano erupts, destroying everything in the lava's path. Everything dies.
Then it gets reborn.
Volcanic soil is one of the most nutricious types in the world. Trees grow again, animals come back, and that slice of the world starts over.
Like a phoenix, life rises from the ashes. Fire has a bad rep, because people can't see it as a necessary force -- what happens when there's no more room? Destruction has to happen, so new things can become.
I want the end, for the beginning. But if the end comes, I can't be there for the beginning.
Crop circles appear in feilds all over the world. In feilds all over the world, these designs pop up seemingly out of no where. People look to the sky for the answer "why?"
Why do we look up instead of looking down?
In these crop circles, there is a strong, magnetic force in that area. 80% of these crop circles, the elaborate ones, are hoaxes. But the 20% that aren't -- where'd they come from? Magnetic feild lines shift in places in the world and flattened wheat appears.
Why?
Know one knows.
But I think terra firma is telling us to stop ******** up.
We need to change -- the world needs a renaissance. As the predominate species, its our responsibility, dammit. "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." If we're big enough to take away, we're big enough to put back.
It's a good thing to fear for the planet. What happens when you're afraid? You do something. Hear a noise in your empty house in the middle of the night? You should check it out, and either fight or flight kicks in, and not just sit there worrying over what it could be. Worry doesn't do a damn thing. Worry leads to biting your fingernails over something, letting it torment your mind while whatever it is your apprehensible about takes over.
We need to get scared, dammit. People always b***h about the environment. How our waters polluted and the air is too. What are people doing about it? Nothing much, other than b***h. And worry.
What'll make people change?
Does the earth have to open it's mouth and invert in upon itself for us to change? Does that threat have to be put out there?
The Earth's getting sick of us, people.
Either we adapt --
Or every member of the animalia, plantae, fungi and protocista kingdoms on this planet die...

But Tas was right. Big things are made up of small things put together and maybe the small people were meant to do small things.
