What ever happened to the idea that being in the hospital meant getting cared for? I remember when if someone needed surgery you were admitted the night before and got prepped by the nurses and explained what was going on.
Yesterday I spent 4 hours in the doctors office talking with doctors and nurses being told what to do to prep myself for surgery. I signed all the papers and legal crap so I cant sue them if it goes bad. Now on Monday I have to go talk to the anesthesiologist to give my consent for him to put me under. Tuesday morning I have to admit myself at freeking 5AM! to be operated on at 7AM. My stay will be 5-7 days. What would be the harm in admitting me the night before to make sure I was properly prepared?
I was told to wash the night before with some sterilizing soap I have to go buy at the drug store and then wash again in the morning. Now I dont know about you but I cant reach my whole back and THATS whats being operated on. Im a bit dumbfounded on the lack of "care". Im sure if I was some rich and important person I wouldnt be treated this way.
I hope the Dr doesnt mind if I end up puking on his shoes from nerves because I wasnt admitted and given a small tranquilizer before surgery. This is no small event going to take place and Im want it so bad I can almost taste it but that doesnt mean Im not nervous. Its a 3 hour operation and thats a pretty long time to be under and they could paralyze me.
anyway if you dont see me for a while its because Im either in recovery or walking my a** off trying to get back the old me yayyyyyyyyy!!!!!! wish me luck!
