For anybody who would call themselves a HALO fan, finishing the games was a heart breaking blow to a awe inspiring trilogy. But to a hard core fan like me and some of my friends, finishing the games, reading all five books, the limited edition comics and graphic novels, plus pre-ordering the sixth book along with pre-ordering the new HALO:ODST GAME FOR THE 360 (I don't even own one but i got HALO 3 and thats exclusively for the 360) isn't enough. No, we spend alot more time than I feel comfortable mentioning speculating about what could, should and will happen with this famed franchise. From the fabled HALO movie that technically is still on "hiatus" to what the Chief looks like under his MJOLNIR Mark IV armor in fan fiction (I haven't writen any but the thought has crossed my mind). We spend countless hours with our proverbial ears to the ground listening for the tiniest bit of new information. Now, that time has paid off.
Recently announced was the following:
Microsoft announced at Comic-Con 2009 that it was overseeing production of a series of seven short anime films, together called Halo Legends. Financed by 343 Industries, the animation was created by five Japanese production houses: Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G., Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation. Shinji Aramaki, creator and director of Appleseed and Appleseed Ex Machina, serves as the project's creative director. Warner Bros. will distribute Legends on DVD and Blu-ray in early 2010.
This may not be a big deal for some, but it is incredible news to me. this is only proof that this franchise will live on more fully than just in games. If the comics and books were not enough proof, this is. I know that expecting perfection from the first try is not reasonable, but one can hope. I only hope that this leads to a longer more in depth look to the past, present and future of these characters.
