He clutched at the bloody stump. His gold eyes focusing on the still twitching appendage laying on the ground before him. His arm was gone...the pain gone with it. A lunatic chuckle broke from his perfect lips. His face was pale as death and black hair hung in sweaty clumps over his forehead. His body was covered in blood so thick it looked black. And something seemed to have broken inside of him "It's gone!" He laughed letting his good hand slip down to his side, the pump of blood growing stronger and pulsing almost squirting from him with each frantic heartbeat. Taking a step forward he wavered on his feet and laughed even louder. "I'm free..." he muttered, breathing hard and falling onto his knees. He could feel his eyelids going heavy and he forced himself to keep them open. Even blinking was out of the question, not with all those nightmares flashing through his mind... taunting him.
Somewhere about two feet away he could see a shape. A body that looked limp and broken. Sucking in a breath he clenched his teeth and ignored the intoxicating scent of his blood. Inching closer he recognized his sister. Her own golden eyes staring up at the black sky, empty. Without a word he collapsed beside her body and reached out his good arm, pulling her towards his chest. It hurt and took almost all of his remaining energy just to get this close but he didn't mind instead he just held her to his chest. Clutching her still body to him, brushing white blood soaked strands of hair from her face. "I've got you sister." he said and then chuckled a little as he buried his face in her hair, smelling the sweetness of her blood and feeling his stomach turn. "It's been a long time since you let me hold you like this hasn't it? Been so long...." his voice was faltering and he grew silent only the sound of his rattled breathing and the frantic beat of his heart filling the air.
The others must be long gone. He didn't even hear them screaming anymore. Well it didn't matter... not anymore. The blood flow had slowed but not because he was healing. He supposed there was only so much blood... even in someone like him. Breathing for one last time he closed his eyes resting his head on top of hers and keeping his arm wrapped tightly around her. This time not even the Nightmares that ran through his mind could wake him.
