Chapter Nine
Zoey came up to me then with a weird look on her face, almost in sympathy.
“Do you, have these dreams often?” she chose her words carefully. I shrugged.
“I’ve only had the dream one time.”
“Do you know what it was about?” Zack asked me. I stared at him for a moment. I remembered it very clearly, but I wasn’t so sure I wanted to tell them quite yet, so I shook my head slowly.
“No, I don’t remember. All I remember is the word Naturelle.”
“Did you hear people calling you from a distance while you were running?” Wild Talon asked me. We all looked at her surprised. She kind of shrunk back, a little embarrassed about her question. Damn, looks like I would have to tell them now. I wondered if Wild Talon spoke often. Even Zoey and Zack looked at her odd.
“Yeah, I kind of remember that.” I stated, trying to look like I was trying hard to remember. Zoey and Zack looked at each other then, and nodded. I looked from Zoey to Zack. What were they thinking?
“They want to take you to Jenn.” Jay said flatly. I looked behind me. Jay had his arms crossed, like he was impatient to go. I looked back at Zoey, she was staring deathly into Jays eyes.
“Get out of our heads, rogue.” she said stepping forward, but Zack held her back.
“Zo, get a grip.”
“But, how can you let him get away with that?” she shrieked at Zack, “You know its against the law, Jay.”
“There’s a law about mind reading?” I asked stupidly. I know for a fact that it was a stupid question because Jay laughed a little.
“Yes.” Zack and Zoey said together.
“We can only mind read when its necessary.” Wild Talon explained.
“When is it necessary then?” I asked, looking at Jay. No emotion was on his face.
“When we are in danger, but it doesn’t help much.” Zoey snarled. Zack patted her back.
“Its not okay, Zack.” Zoey shrugged off her friends hand. I stared at them in shock.
“Zoey, can you read minds?” Zoey shook her head, and laughed.
“No, only gifted ones can if they wanted to.”
“Then how come you can read Zack’s?” Zack smiled a little then, and put a arm around his vicious companion.
“Zoey and I know what each other are thinking, or what we are going to say to each other. Our kind are called Twins.”
“We also can almost never part. Only dark magic can make us do that.” Zoey said, smiling now. She poked Zack’s side, and he laughed.
“So basically your best friends forever, right?” Jay asked mockingly. Zoey and Zack stared at him.
“Companions, Jay, companions.” Zack stated. It was silent then. The wind started to pick up a little, and the sun had come up a little farther. I wonder what time it was? Would my parents be worried, and angry with me? I didn’t want to know. I pushed that thought out of my mind, and settled for a much more pleasant, and mysterious thought.
“Who’s Jenn?” I asked. Wild Talon sat down on a near by rock, and smiled a little.
“Jenn is another one of us Naturelles.”
“Does she have a special talent then?” I asked. Wild Talon shook her head.
“No, but she has knowledge of your dreams.”
“You would think it was a gift, but really she’s just smart.” Zack snickered. I smiled a little.
“Does she live close by?” I wondered. Wild Talon smiled.
“Just 6 states away.”
“No way in hell am I getting on that thing.” I yelled over the jets loud engine. Zoey was tugging on my arm, but I wouldn’t budge. About 3 hours earlier, Zoey, Zack and Wild Talon practically dragged me all the way to the airport in Montana. I said many times that I couldn’t go, that I would be murdered by my own parents (since I didn’t leave a note or anything) if I stepped foot in my house again. Jay was with me on the no going to Virginia thing. He seemed insistent that I stay put here, but Zoey just glared at him some more, and dragged me away. Sometimes I wonder about Jay and Zoey. Did they have a bad break up and never got over it or something? That’s what it looked like to me, anyway.
“Angel, you’ll be fine, stop whining and get on the plane.” Zack yelled, and pointed to the plane. I saw that the pilot was staring at us like we were from a different planet, not that I cared the least bit. We were just as human as he was, and I’m sure before he became a pilot, he was just as terrified of planes as I am.
“Do you realize that this is only my first time outside, and already you guys are taking me on a plane?” I asked. Zoey looked at me weirdly.
“Angel, have some sense of adventure.”
“I don’t want to go on the plane.” I insisted, tugging out of Zoey’s grasp, and folded my arms in front of my chest. I wasn’t going anywhere.
“Oh yes you are.” Jay said from behind me. I screamed a little when I felt his arms wrap around my waist, and I screamed more when he put me over his shoulder and started to walk towards the plane. I hit him on the back to make my point of getting off of him.
“Jay put me down!” I shrieked. “I thought you were against me going to Virginia?”
“Yeah, well, we’re here now. No use going back to your house, and letting you get murdered by your parents, now is there?” I hit him again.
“That’s not fair.”
“Life isn’t fair, Angel. Now quit your fussing and let me help you get on the plane.” I growled, and gave up. I let myself go limp so I just hung there. I felt like such a little kid. I heard Jay snicker. I flicked him.
“Get out.”
“Your thoughts are amusing.”
“I hope you don’t listen all the time.” I scolded. Jay shrugged.
“Only when necessary.” he stepped onto the planes stairs, and almost slipped. I yelped, and clung to his black sweater. Jay chuckled lightly, and continued his way up.
“Hey, how many gifts do you have anyways?” I said, poking him in the back playfully.
“Just two.”
“Oh.” I said, biting my lip a little. “So I’m guessing you’re one of the gifted then, huh?”
“You could say that, yeah.” He stepped into the planes doorway, and ducked his head, while in the process of almost hitting my head on the side of the door while he turned. Good job Jay.
“Thanks.” he said. I knew he was smiling. I just rolled my eyes. I looked up, and noticed that there was no people on the plane.
“Uh, where is everyone?” I asked. “And you can put me down now.” Jay stopped.
“Are you going to run out of the plane?”
“No.”
“Promise?” I rolled my eyes, and hit him lightly.
“Yes, I promise, just put me down.” He laughed and finally put me down. My stomach hurt from being stabbed by his shoulder, and I was light headed. Now I could actually look around properly. I turned around, and stared in surprise. There was no one on the plane except for us 5 people. Zoey was smiling.
“Zoey, why isn’t there any people on here?” Zack rolled his eyes in envy when I said that.
“Go on Zoey, tell her why there isn’t any extra people on here.” Zoeys face lit up with pride.
“My parents own a private jet, and they let me use it when ever I want.”
“Why do they let you use it when ever?” I asked. Zoey shrugged.
“Probably because they feel sorry for me.”
“Oh.” Why is it that all of our parents don’t care about us? Jay stepped into the conversation then.
“How long does it take to get to Virginia?” he asked. Zoey shrugged, and looked at Wild Talon. She looked away from the window she was staring out of, and just stared at us like she was in another world.
“T.W,” Zack yelled softly, snapping his fingers in front of her face. “How long does it take to get to Virginia from here?” Wild Talons eyes became more aware of her surroundings then, and smiled.
“About 9 hours, and a little bit.” I groaned, and sat down on a near by chair. It was made of white leather, so it was rather comfortable to sit on. My wings folded neatly at my sides, and I pulled my knees up to my chest as I looked out the window.
“When do we leave?” I asked, dazed. I heard someone get up, and go to the front of the plane. In not even 1 minute they were back and sitting where they were.
“In about 5 minutes.” Zack said sounding tired. Jay sat down next to me. My heart fluttered a little. I jumped when it did, but made no thought about it, just in case Jay would hear. I had no idea why it did that at that moment, but it felt weird. I yawned, and let my head rest on the window ledge.
“Tired?” Jay asked softly. I nodded, and silently closed my eyes. I wonder what Virginia would be like, and if Jenn was pretty, and what color of wings she had. I had a little vision of her having white wings, and long dark brown hair. My wings wrapped around me like a blanket, and I drifted off to sleep.
I should probably start letting you sleep in a little longer than I usually do. I heard Jay chuckle in my head. Yeah, that would be nice.
