You know browsing through the ED I frequently see those "I'm so in love and I'm only 12" posts and frequently watch Gaians pour out of the woodwork to suddenly proclaim "Follow your heart!" and other such non sense that generally costs lots of money and gets people into all sorts of trouble depending on the situation.

I swear people don't know what love is. They have this over exaggerated view of what it should be from entertainment such as books, movies, and music. I'm starting to wonder if the media isn't programming people so instead of rationally analyzing a situation they opt to take an emotional response.

I mean watch commercials. A lot use music, mood, and atmosphere to get you to use their product while throwing out a very select few facts (certainly not enough for the whole picture) to appeal to a bit of rational.

So are we being programmed by the media to not be the thinking rationalizing human beings we've been working on becoming since the Greeks arrived? Are we being programmed to become stupid consumer sheep? Probably. I think mass media has to be a double edged sword. Extremely useful and convenient at times but damn do we have a price to pay for it, part of which is becoming slaves to it and needing it to do anything.
