[Vanerin Marquard]
Crystal Knight in Training.

Arms akimbo and with a cheerful bounce on her step, Vanerin Marquard reveled in the warm feeling that engulfed her entire being. The day seemed so much more brighter, the air so much more cleaner, and her attitude towards the world in general rose several notches up. It felt good to just stand on the steel railings and then balance yourself precariously before landing smack dab on your butt. Happy giggles, that didn't seem to belong to the sullen faced girl erupted, piercing through the air in melodious harmony. She took a deep breath of fresh air before running erratically towards the side of her dorm building. Bounding up, she grabbed a nearby ledge and pulled herself towards the rooftop. Exercises like this were easy and Vanerin was often told that she climbed like a monkey so it was an unpleasant surprise to her when she felt her grip loosen on one of the ledges. Arms flailing wildly, she began her descent towards the ground, but was able to hook her right leg on one of the several ornate ridges on the building's wall. She sighed, shook her head and pulled herself up once again.

Being on the rooftop with a view of the whole campus was a glorious feeling. She settled herself firmly on one of the sloping surfaces and began to survey her surroundings, particularly noticing a compression of students near one of the buildings. "Hmm...Must be the opening ceremony they were talking about. Oh, well. I'm not attending!" she cackled loudly before quickly looking around if anybody heard her. Of course nobody did since she was several stories above the ground but, her happiness was making her drunk and crazy. That was a scary thing.

She looked towards Airship Marquard and whistled appreciatively as the sun glimmered along its polished surface, making it all flashy and glittery. The elders and her attendants were apparently taking their leave. She smirked as she saw that a lot of her things were being taken back. Seems like that private suite wasn't possible. One surprising thing though was that none of the elders didn't seem to mind having their word revoked. She blinked rapidly as she saw them graciously taking their leave, her father at the rear exchanging, no doubt, some parting pleasantries with the committee's head. The elders waited patiently at the foot of the stairs as her father ran towards them laughing along with the committee member who seemed to be a good friend of his. Vanerin smiled wistfully. She was happy that her father acted younger and happier for a change instead of being the silent, seemingly emotionless man that he had been.

She waved a bittersweet good-bye as the airship ascended and went full-speed towards the clouds.

Vanerin's room was located at the last floor of the dormitory building directly below the rooftop as she soon found out by checking her papers while chewing on a pastry that she filched from the earlier meeting. It seemed to be the last one at the end of the hall and had a wide glass window. She was hanging upside-down, her hair sweeping the window ledge and her teensy skirt following suite, as she checked it out. It looked pretty darn fancy.

"I wonder how they managed?" she thought aloud, referring to Team Seymour, her own personal team of attendants. Every major Marquard biggie, for example her father, the elders and herself, had their own teams assigned to them. It ranged from a couple of maids to a full-blown team of attendants like Team Seymour.
She frowned thoughtfully at the thought of larger-than-life Seymour barking orders at everyone over where to put the dresser and how to arrange this and that. Nonetheless, despite the number of people on her team (there were 23 to be exact), all of them truly cared for her and she was grateful for that.

A scowl soon developed from her frown as she remembered something horrendously irritating. Her team. HER OWN FREAKIN' TEAM was being transferred to another Marquard due to her deployment at the academy. They were tasked to take care of another person during her absence and that person's face irked her to no end. The person in question would be Seren Rui Marquard, a cousin of hers and the one that the venomous snakes in the family wanted to oust Vanerin for. Of course, when she comes back, she could reclaim her team but it still made her mad to think of them serving that beautiful, perfect angel. "Grr...Wait till I get back." she threatened as she flipped and landed inside her room.

It turned out to be an astounding maze of furniture, curtains, and color while still maintaining a concept of light, air, and birdsong. It really was a feat of genius. She couldn't believe the amount of things they were able to stuff inside in such a short notice while making sure that everything looked like they belonged there. The room, through some magic with design, also appeared twice as large as the other rooms. She should know since she checked. Her bed was raised well above the floor while the space underneath was utilized storage. She had her own sitting area, done in cream and gold, in one of the corners, a couple of closets with a dressing partition in between, a study desk complete with shelves upon shelves of books, as well as some other things she was sure she didn't need. In other words, it was a small, vacuum-packed replica of her room back in the estate. With a sigh, she climbed up her bed, kicked off her shoes and soon began to snuggle into her sheets as the scent of lavender filled the air. Her eyes squeezed shut in appreciation as she fell asleep.
