Woohoo! First entry! OK, so in this journal I'll just be talking about something that strikes my interrest or ire. The subject will usually be gleaned from the forums.

Anyway, so I stumbled across a topic in the discussion forum entitled something like "Marijuna never killed anyone!" At first I was like "Wow someone's been hitting the weed a little to hard if you ask me," then I discovered that the topic starter was talking about the drug itself, not the inevitable side effects.
How could you make a statement like that and then qualify it with something so stupid, and not be on some kind of brain bending substance? If you take a mind altering drug of any kind there will always be side effects which CANNOT be ignored when someone trys to make a statement about the effects of said drugs on a society or individual. Seriously, if you drive high, it's as bad or worse as if you drove drunk. Your reflexces and judgement are obviously going to be impared and you'll be just as likely to kill yourself, or worse, someone else.
And please dont talk about legalizing pot for "medical purposes," we have other medications for killing pain that work just as well and they probably will not form an addiction, and, as an added bonus, they probably won't KILL YOU! Think about it, if we legalize marijuna than we'll have every other pot-head with a broken finger coming in off the street and getting a perscription for weed! And with the current government health plans they will probably be getting it paid for out of the tax payers pocket!
Yes, I know it's your body and you can do whatever the heck you want with it, if it were just that I wouldn't care if you smoked 'till head exploded. But if your' gonna' be smoking a plant that will be altering your perception of reality, then it's not going to be affecting just you anymore is it? I've never smoked pot, so I don't know what the psychological effects are, but from what I've heard, it changes the way you think (come on, killing brain cells can't be good right?) And if your' not thinking like a rational human being, how do you know that what you are doing is not going to harm someone?
