Writings, Rantings, and Musings
Here you may find anything from an angry rant of mine, to a particularly tormented piece of writing that I decided to work on. Enter at your own risk... (I love comments! :))
Mirrors
"Look in the mirror...see your reality..."

She flinched away from the image, but no matter which way she turned, it was in front of her.

His mocking laughter swept over her, reminding her that her body and mind were entirely in the hands of another being...again.

"You are a broken being...polluted...incomplete...

His voice sounded strange, unreal, as though it were just a part of her own mind...but of course, he was in her mind now, wasn't he?

She shuddered and tried to pull her attention away from the thing in the mirror, the broken creature that had no control over its own destiny.

Leave me alone.

The words were there, in her mind, but she couldn't speak them. She froze, paralyzed by terror.

"I know what you fear..."

Ghostly hands turned her to the side, turning her attention to a second mirror. The image was more hateful than the first, and she cried out, seeking to escape from the blood and death that ensnared her vision.

"The darkness calls to you... This is the road that awaits you..."

No. No, it can't be. It's not true!

She still couldn't speak. The thought curled around her mind with the chilling touch of despair. If she couldn't speak of her own power, then...

No, it can't be!

He laughed again.

"I know...

"Oh... I do know..."

He propelled her again, and she offered no resistance, hanging limply against him. The terror pressed deep against her mind...

...only to be banished by the welcome image that greeted her, the memory of her vanished past.

"Yes...

"Please," she whispered, and gasped, filled with elation as her voice responded to her commands.

"The power is mine...the decision is yours..."

She shivered, remembering the hatred he had previously shown. That he would show mercy now, much less offer an alliance--it was impossible.

"These mirrors reflect your soul...your life..." His voice was a mere whisper. "You've seen what they hold..."

The images blurred past her, and she fell to her knees, weeping.

"You can remain as you are...shattered...useless...

"You can continue along the path you have chosen, and lose yourself to the clutching poison of evil that fills your veins...

"Or... You can turn to me...trust me...and I will restore the past you so dearly long to return to."

A whimper escaped her as she huddled in the dark world he had created around her. She had seen the atrocities committed by his command, she knew the wickedness he carried with him...

And yet...

"I cannot go on this way," she sobbed, "and I cannot become a monster..."

Didn't he already think she was a monster? The sudden thought threatened to cut through her confusion.

"You must choose... You see--there are only three mirrors."

Despair made her limbs heavy, but she refused to look into that bleak future or present.

Three mirrors.

She turned, allowed full control over her motions at last, and looked into the eyes of her captor and savior.

Before she could speak, however, a new voice resounded around them.

"No. There is another mirror."
