Activating Mystery Gift
Mystery Gift is a very important feature of events so if you don't have it, get it!
On the 3rd Floor of the Jubilife TV Station, you will find this couple. Normally he will ask you for a greeting for you to provide in battles however if you give him some keywords, he will activate the Mystery Gift function for you. The words are as follows
Everyone Happy
Wi-Fi Connection
Distribute them as seen in the images below and voila, you'll have Mystery Gift accessible in the main menu before you load your save file.

Oak's Letter for Pokemon Platinum.
With Oak's Letter you can catch a level 30 Shaymin at the Flower Garden!
Diamond and Pearl games may not participate, seeing as there was already a Shaymin event for those games.
Starts September 28th over Wi-Fi and Mystery Gift and ends on November 8th.
First things first, go to "Mystery Gift" at title screen and choose the option "Receive Gift".
There should be an option about receiving it over Wi-Fi, choose that, you should receive "Oak's Letter".
Go to the Pokemart and pick it up from the man in green.
In the letter received from the delivery man in the Pokemart, it states that there is a request for you to go to Route 224 from Professor Oak.
Now, in order to get there, you must have Surf, Strength, Waterfall, Rock Climb, and Defog unless you think you can navigate through the mist without it.
The path to Route 224 is through Victory Road and you'll need to have beaten the Elite Four and obtained the national dex.
Once you arrive at route 224, Marley and Oak will be there to greet you.
Talk to Oak and he'll say to give thanks to somebody on the rock, it honestly doesn't matter, just put a name and the Shaymin will appear.
Looking quite alarmed it runs down a path which appeared in a bright flash of light.
There are now flowers everywhere.
Go down the path and you should arrive at the Flower Paradise.
Go a bit further and you should see Shaymin in its Land Forme.
This Shaymin also triggers the Gracidea Flower which allows you to change it forms, so be sure to save before encountering it.
The Shaymin will be at level 30 and knows Growth, Synthesis, Leech Seed, and Magical Leaf.
Weaken it a bit, throw some balls, capture it, and enjoy.

NOTE: The Gracidea Flower is obtained in Floaroma Town from a blond girl standing outside the flower shop and allows you to change Shaymin to its Sky Forme at 5 AM, I believe, until 8 PM, in which it will change back. It will also revert to land forme when it is either frozen or placed in a PC or trade with other games. Hacked Shaymins will NOT trigger the Gracidea Flower so catch this Shaymin while it's available!
