For the past year, I've been a barista for the local Books-A-Million. It's had it's ups and downs, but for the past few months, it's just been digging a trench in the dirt.
When I first started, I didn't know what was scarier, talking to the customers or making their drinks. Then holiday season came and I got really good. And really bitter. I think I had two customers make me cry...maybe 3. Point is, people are mean. And staying until 3 in the morning straightening books while having to hear the same Christmas music for like the tenth time that day didn't help either. But I could deal with that, as long as I liked my co-workers.
That is, until you don't know who's repeating what to the managers. (I like my BS sessions as much as the next person, but some things shouldn't be repeated. )And that's kind of where I still am right now. That and they're whining about making percent, and getting people to get magazines...Honestly, if I were a customer, I wouldn't bite either, so I can't blame the people. And apparently, 'if you don't believe in the card program, you shouldn't be working here.' It's things like that that make me resent them/it even more.
