Finally
It's taken me about two years, but I think I've finally found the avatar that I'm going to stick with for a really long time.
I've been spending gold and updating and reselling items and getting more gold and buying more crap... and I think I've finally done it.
I'm satisfied with my car (it's a totally decked out U.F.O. - How cool, right?) and my house, it's absolutely gorgeous if I do say so myself (and I do) and I really like my profile.
It was just one of those quickies that I found on tektek.org (Dark and Stormy Night) and it fits so well with the avatar that I've finally created. I'm just overall really satisfied!
So, I guess ya'll would like a little of the background on my Avatar?

Well, first of all she is the Harlequin Equestrian.
In case those words are too long and descriptive for you, I'll elaborate. Harlequin is essentially defined as a pattern of brightly colored diamond shapes. (Yes, there are other definitions of this word, but that's the one I mean when it comes to my character) In this case, her overthrow button-up is black and white diamonds. Not brightly colored, but the black and white contrast, so it works.
I went with the black and white theme and just kinda bought every item that I could find that seemed to fit.
She's got guys trousers on, so they don't completely come down to her ankles like normal pants, but her boots come up high enough to hide that fact. I couldn't hide those boots, they were just too awesome.
Now her weapons. I've had that bone scythe for awhile now and I knew I wanted to keep it, but it needed a partner. It took me a long time to find the lunar scythe believe it or not, and I wasn't sure I was going to buy it at first either.
I didn't really like it save for the one position that she's carrying it in. But I said what the hell. She has two scythes, why not let her have one that is abnormally huge? It's an intimidation tactic!

But what the hell? I'm describing her outfit and not her history!
Essentially, she was purchased by Satan. (That dark lord, Lucifer, The Thunder Down Under, what have you)(And yes, I said purchased. She was created after all, not born).
As such, he employed her to be his rider (not like Ghost Rider, so knock those ideals out of your head right now!).
With the amount of deaths that were happening this day and age the ferry ride into hell just wasn't cutting it. He needed another form of transportation for all of his sinning souls. It was up to Harlequin to find those lost souls and transport them from one world into the next.

Now, her horse isn't really a horse. Being that Fae are a combination of angels and demons children, a Kelpie can go between the worlds easier than a regular horse. So naturally she needed something that was just as evil as she was created to be. The Kelpie was a perfect animal to become her ride. He wears no bridal and is bound to Harlequin by the nature of their employment. No matter, however because the two enjoy their job with each other and every customer's dying breath.

Speaking of dying breath. If you haven't heard the story of the Celtic Kelpie, let me tell you now. First of all, they are shape shifters, but their power in that is limited. They can transform themselves to look like a man, but they never got the hair quite right. It always looked like seaweed. And when they are in their horse form, the mane always drips water. But they are so majestic in both that it is hard not to be taken aback and completely drawn in by the image.

Anyway, back to the story. They lived in the lochs and the rivers and whenever a maiden (or any human or animal, really, that came wondering) would come down to their shores for a drink, the Kelpie would appear. It would court them, using whichever form was necessary to lure it's visitor on it's back.
Once there, the creature it had captured would become stuck. The Kelpie's skin would become extremely adhesive so that they couldn't escape.
And thusly, it would plunge under the water, drowning it's victim and then devouring it, skin, bones, and all, save for the heart.

So, knowing the Kelpie's story and that of Harlequin's, let me tell you why she is so sinister alongside her pet.
With the Kelpie's particular gifts and Harlequin's evil nature, she began "ferrying" souls that were still alive. "If they had sin, they were Satan's anyway" she would say when she reached the gate to check her freshly dead orders in.
Her pet was so in love with her that he never argued and the ride was his favorite part of the job, anyway. So she was playing on her lovers' weaknesses.
Soon though, it didn't take long before Satan learned of her misbehavior. Whether they belonged to him or not, he wasn't going to approve of ending their lives early. It was always his choice who came and when and Harlequin was beginning to take this control from him.
Satan punished Harlequin. He cut her. Her permanent grin pulls downwards at the corners of her mouth from ragged blades and stitching and her eyes are bruised forever.
Her Kelpie lover is the only one who still tells her that she is beautiful.
And she blames humanity for what Satan has done to her.

You better pray that you haven't sinned, because Harlequin is waiting for you. And she'll give you the ride of your live... (Literally!)
