My Journal of Fantasy
This is a collection of information I have gathered on creatures and things in legends and lore.
Pomegranate
Do you know that here in the USA November is National Pomegranate Month? Lets see what else we can find out about this fruit.

In Judaism pomegranates are taught as a symbol of righteousness. They are said to have 613 seeds which corresponded to the number of commandments in the Torah. It is also a symbol of fruitfulness. In Greece pomegranates are a traditional gift for people who have bought a new home. They are placed near the home alter as a symbol of abundance, fertility, and good luck. In Christianity the fruit broken or busted open is a sign of the fullness of Jesus' suffering and resurrection. In the Qur'an they are said to grow in the garden of paradise and are mentioned as being examples of good things God creates. In China it is valued as one of the three blessed fruits of Buddha and women use it as an offering to their goddess of mercy when they pray for children. In Turkey a bride would throw the fruit onto the floor. The number of seeds that shattered would be the number of children she would have.
