.. painful truth - be honest, just tell out the real thing, the real feeling, eventhough it is unacceptable. Eventhough it is painful in heart, the truth is revealed - at least. And it's depend on the person either to accept, or ignore it. The giver might feel great because he/she did say it out, or might feel miserable because it ends badly..
..sweet lie- tell lies, in order to escape from being scolded, or even being judged by others - that's the main idea. Keep doing it, & the next thing i know, i'm in a total mess because i'm keep saying this & that without even considering how am i goin' to do it! sweatdrop
