Omega Flight Hit Squad: Tales- Issue Four- "The Wish That Couldn't Come True"

As Shin looked across the river, Alex's words haunted his thoughts. "You are not insignificant to me. To me, you have become my closest ally, and the wall I must destroy in order to get stronger and kill the man who halved my soul. So if I kill you, my creator....I will become stronger...much stronger." Shin grimaced. [You really meant it, didn't you? You wouldn't have any hang-ups about killing me...after all we've shared.... Maybe it was me all along who believed that.....that we were best friends.] Alex leapt forward with her attack as he finished that thought. "FIGHT ME, my creator! Make me feel alive...as I kill you!" she swung multiple attacks at him, but his defense was a work of art. Her attacks snapped nearly soundlessly against his forearms and hands. "Quit blocking! Be a man and fight back!" Alex screeched with fury, as she leveled a kick to his head, but he ducked and caught her leg in mid-kick and just pushed her back.
Shin just kept his eyes on her, pushing back at her attacks when he could. [~sigh~ Did anything we did as Team One mean a damn thing to you?] Shin thought as he pictured her, him and Midnight as they were in Team One, The three of The Light Of Lights, The Entity's chosen warriors. Alex and Arwen....they made Destiny....his supposed soulmate. Midnight was the good friend of both. She, granted, was in love with Marius, but his curious creation of Destiny's soul made her be pushed to the role of merely friend.
Finally, Alex fell back and began the hand signs associated with the main attack he taught her......the Raikiri, or Lightning Sword. His thoughts fell back to actually teaching her that move. Almost absentmindedly, he held out his hand and charged up Redrigun, in response...With a sneer, she charged at him, her hand laced with the electric power. The air crackling, the hum of her move filling the air, the only sound coming from his palm is the swirling whoosh sound of air moving in a spiral very quickly. With a sound louder than a sonic boom the two moves connected with one another, and sent the two of them flying across the water. Alex, the first to struggle to her feet worried with despair. [Ugh! That was a full force Raikiri....and he blocked it with his Redrigun....Gotta do something to end this quickly...I never intended on fighting face to face, when I noticed his attention on me, I tried to withdraw...but that isn't an option now.] Alex snarled as she watched Marius then regain his feet. [ Marius....You Loser!] Alex finished her thought. Marius looked at her with sad eyes, eyes that held his vaunted 'Shinigami' eyes. [ Yep....no doubt about it now. You really wouldn't think twice about killing me. When did this come about? Was it ever really so bad that you came to hate me so much? Or....maybe I was the fool all along....maybe it was me who thought....who thought we were best friends.] Marius still steadily watched her as she readied herself again. Alex looked back. [I can see it in his eyes, those vaunted Shinigamis, He's gonna get serious now. So should I then...] "Marius! Did you know, that in our exchange, even without the benefit of telepathy, I was able to read your intent? So....now tell me....can you read mine? Can you know what I want?" Alex said as she charged towards him once more. [If I use quick offensive moves, and hit where he isn't blocking fast enough then blast him with Raikiri, it should be quick, clean and painless.] Alex began to implement her plan, crossing up Marius many, many times over. [Ugh. She's so....fast, so headstrong. I cannot actually believe she wants this...Was I always nothing to her?] Shin continued to think as she began to slip his blocks and catch him unawares. Her shots making impact at this point, he barely even continued to block at all. She was beginning to pick up speed. She would hit him, knock him flying halfway across the river, and then just like lightning be right there to catch him with another shot. [ Ugh....I can't....can't continue to let her get away with this..... I have to stop her, have to make her see reason. ~sigh~ Ever since her return....I've just wanted to know her. She was new, fresh. So completely different from the way I made her...Perhaps it was this and the love I feel that has made me blind....] Alex finally had caught him while he was wrapped up in his thoughts....his monotony making him an easy target....but then again that was what he wanted, or so he thought. She smirked and charged up Raikiri again. [Ha! This is it! I have him now!] Alex thought as her hand sparked and she raised it to strike. Marius hung there, surprised that she could hold him up by one hand. [~sigh~ yes, perhaps I was blind....foolishly wanting what I probably could never have.... and the thought of her and I being best friends....perhaps it was just me.... And that would...... That would make me so stupid.] Marius thought as he watched her hand. His eyes, previously just the Shinigami eyes, had become slitted like a cat's and red. Alex's eyes lit up. "You're too late Marius!" Alex exclaimed as she thrust her hand forward. Marius pushed her hand to the side at the last second and grimaced as her blazing hand drove through his shoulder and burst out the other side. The next thing he heard, is her cruel laughter. "Excellent move at the end there with your hand. Granted....it was useless. You're out a shoulder and a lung now. Your moves, your Redrigun, done..." Alex then gripped his throat. "...Now this ends. See you in the next life, Marius." Alex finished as she then put pressure on his neck, trying to snap it. However, her eyes went wide as a red cloud enveloped Marius's body and his hands forced hers away harshly. Marius stood there limply, his head down and his hands limp at his sides. However, Alex wasn't looking at that, her gaze was fearfully looking up. Up, at the visage of the Demon Beast Kael, claws extended and he roared at her. Marius then looked at her as his eyes filled with tears and he crouched, his hands now at the ready in front of him, on every finger a sharp talon like claw. She shuddered as she looked at him. "W..What are you?" Alex asked fearfully. Marius looked at her with a penetrating gaze. " Your Best Friend." Marius said with finality. " You're not making sense, Alex! And so....even if I have to break every bone in your body and then drag you home...You're coming home." Marius said with a snarl. He then was beside her in a flash of color, planting a fist in her gut, and at the same time elbowing her in the face. With a sharp kick, he knocked her feet out from under her, and dropped an elbow on her at the same time. She staggered to her feet and he backfisted her into the mountainside, his body following her nearly as fast as she flew. He landed on her and began to bounce the back of her head into the rock. "You have to wake up! This is a suicidal desire, Alex! Besides, if you could just come home....I could help you find Yorlik, and we'll kill him together!" Marius exclaimed. Alex's eyes lolled to his face, streaked with tears and his feral eyes bright. " What do you know, HUH?!? How could you know what it's like to be two different people? To lose everything that you are without your permission? HUH? What do you know?" Alex screamed at him and shoved him off. Marius landed back on his feet with a introspective look. "Huh....you're right. I don't know what it's like to be two different people. But....when you and Arwen begged Mother to let me live.....You really condemned me to a fate worse than death. To be cut off from Mother......that might as well be death. But even in that, despite what you've done, despite you dragging Arwen into your hell, despite your and Kael's plan, I still love you, Alex. I love you both, Arwen and you. We have a bond....one that is stronger than the mountains and deeper than the sea. And THAT is why Enid can't have you! I won't let them corrupt you!" Marius finished, his tears overflowing again. Alex smirked and put on her headband. " A bond, eh? Heh. Well....if that is what you believe, then all I have to do is break that bond. So bring it on, Marius." Alex said to him, eyeing him warily. "What's with the headband, Alex?" Marius asked curiously. Alex eyed him with distain. "I'll finally admit it. You're good. Perhaps as good as me....but now I will fight you as my equal. You know the pain of losing something and it makes you strong, even in your human form. So come on. That's enough talking. All that is left between us, is the battle. And if, If you win....I'll come back with you. But you aren't going to win. Because as good as you are, my creator.....I'm better than you." Alex said with a evil smile. "I guess nothing I say will sway you....fine." Marius said as he leaped at her. Alex then swerved and tried to counter. Marius moved out of the way and swung again. Alex again moved out of the way and swung a kick in the direction of his legs. Marius hopped over the kick and tried to pin her leg down, but she brought it back in quickly and her fist met his face. [Argh! She's blocking or dodging my moves so easily now! Hurgh....It doesn't matter! I have to stop her!] Marius thought as he spiraled back into the water. His body however, refused to rise so quickly. {You really are weak, letting her beat you like this. You had better thank Night....for sealing me into a wimp like you!} Kael snarled at him while he writhed in the water. Alex's eyes widened again as she watched his body, which had just been writhing in the water, stand and the red cloud deepen around him and it began to make a shadow of what looked like Kael around him. Marius then crouched and glared at her, growling from deep within his throat. Shaken, she tried to back away, but Marius leaped after her, slashing at her savagely. Alex blocked his attack desperately, trying to back away. [My gods! What the hell is he? This red cloud covering him, the red slitted eyes....Kael couldn't be giving him this kind of power!] Alex thought as she again dodged another slashing attack but then was hit by the cloud as it branched off of Marius! [Ack! Energy branching!?! ]Alex thought, panic setting in. She leaped back, then brought forth a fireball, and sent it his way. To her shock, the fire just wrapped around the red shadow and dispursed behind him. [ Is that shadow protecting him from even me?!? What the hell can I do? Hmmmm.....wait...I'll have to use that....~sigh~ Once I give myself over to that, I don't know what'll happen....but it has to be better than what he plans now.] Alex thought at first desperately, then resignedly. She knelt down and what looked like black tongues of flame roiled over her skin. " Heh....I guess it turned out you were pretty special after all, Marius." Alex said as her hair lengthened and turned slate grey, and what looked like a giant star spead out over face, her eyes a red mockery of what they once were. Marius cocked his head a second and then leaped at her for what would be a unblockable attack. However something stopped him before he reach her.....and when he looked, it was a giant leathery wing! It swatted him back and he landed on his feet a short distance away, the waterfall between them. Another giant leathery wing grew out of her back before his eyes. " But you're nowhere near as special as me. Oh yes....I did say the time for talking was over. Time to finish this...." Alex said, her voice even a mockery of what it once was. She then held out her hand, and charged another Raikiri, this one's electricity a dark purple shooting around her hand. Marius again cocked his head to one side snarling. He then charged a Redrigun, the ball swirling around furiously and the red a deep crimson. They looked into each other's eyes for a long second. A heartbeat passed, and then the two star crossed former lovers leapt at each other at the same time, their weapons of war thrust forward. They met each other with a clash that sounded like thunder, Alex's Raikiri hitting Marius squarely in the gut and Marius's Redrigun hitting Alex in the right shoulder. A giant black ball of power formed around them, both of their eyes squinting nearly closed. With a flash of light, a image of Arwen and Marius kissing and embracing lovingly flashed where no one's eyes could see, although both could see it in their minds. And then with a boom like a atomic bomb, the power dissipated, and Marius fell to the ground on his back, unconscious. Alex then stood over him....her body back to normal, her eyes filled with a strange sorrow. "Marius...." Alex began but never got anything else out as it began to rain....and she coughed blood. She ended up bent over him, their faces inches from each other, Marius's serene, Alex's pained. She then staggered away in the driving rain....as Night neared their impromptu battleground. Her movement panicked, she felt the release of their power. [ Please let me get there in time....please don't let Marius be dead.... ] Night thought as she hurried through the heavy rain. She landed a short distance from the scene....and her heart sank as she spied Marius's body laying on the ground...... She ran up to his body, and fell to her knees, gently putting his head in her lap. "He's not dead, you know. Hurt pretty bad, but not dead." Circe stepped from the shadows. Night looked at Marius's face and her face softened. " I'm so sorry, my Marius.....Knowing you, you probably gave it your all too, didn't you?" Night said to Marius's unconscious body, her semi-long emerald hair brushing his face. "Why did this have to happen? And of course...they couldn't have picked a better place for their battlefield.....Where Angels Lose Their Way....." Circe said sadly, shaking her head, her long blonde tresses swaying as if the breeze hit them. As suddenly as the rain had began falling, it had stopped and the sun began to come out, sparkling off of the two beautiful women's hair and outfits. Sighing, Night picked up Marius's unconscious form and slumped him over her back. "You know this isn't over, right? He'll never let it be over." Circe said to Night. Night smiled grimly. " Neither will ever let it be over....but hopefully he'll listen to reason." Night said softly. Circe snorted. " Right....and I was the Queen of England...." She said, scoffing. And with that, the two women, sunlight shining off of their varied Omega Flight Hit Squad forehead protectors, took off, Marius in tow.
