ASK YOURSELF in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple "I must," then build your life in accordance with this necessity..." - Rainer Maria Rilke
Wrapping up this year...
There were a lot of firsts. A lot of them aren't exactly ones to celebrate, but I think they're tiny little milestones in and of themselves. These aren't in order, just as they come to mind. So here goes:

• Laptops in the high school. I can barely remember what it was like without them. I love it. I remember sobbing at home when I had to give my middle school one back for good.
• I finished my first story that's more than four pages. It's twenty-two! It's not perfect, but it makes me laugh.
• I made a plot web/character details/miscellaneous future info for Superbia. That's what I've decided to call it. It's Latin for Pride, one of the seven deadly sins. I've also titled the sequels: Avaritia (Greed, treachery) and Invidia (Envy), although they don't theoretically exist right now. There's a lot of Latin in it. If only I knew its proper grammar, or even how to say it..
• My writing was called "mediocre," which I have nightmares about.
• I joined a gym
• I spontaneously skipped school (most of the time it's premeditated, by me faking sickness. This wasn't.)
• Got my first set of wheels (Hogart)
• Got my license on the first try
• Got my second pair of wheels (the Camry, which I haven't named yet..Tickle?)
• Break lines broke
• I slid on snow for the first time. It was freaky because I wasn't going fast, but I probably should have pumped the breaks when I was stopping for the light (only remembered that little piece of information AFTER). The car swung from side to side and the steering wheel didn't help. It stopped a little short of the line but I didn't dare move it until the light was green.
• Got a boyfriend (gag)
• Broke up with said person
• Got an IQ of 125 on this internet test in Psych. "Superior," haha. For once, Rachel was silent, and that was because she got her results. Couldn't study for this one, could you, hon? She got 110 (average).
• Found out how much I hate tests and ranking myself against other people. Because it's so stupid. I got a 125 but don't have much common sense and just barely made the honor roll because I have ZERO motivation. Teachers have been telling me this for years. Grades are just a tool for other people to judge us on. I know it would mean a complete overhaul of the educational system, but I want just a pass or fail mark. Even the IQ scores, people were either all pompous after or seriously rejected because they limited themselves to that one number.
• Got a dresser and painted it Marmalade Orange. How sick is that? I'm going to have this one around for a long time.
• Wrote all of Claudettes' essays (except the first one) at school. Haven't failed one yet, but I might be contributing to the whole "you're half-assing these!" argument. pirate
• Grandma died.
• After she died, my mom gave me her last birthday card for me. She misspelt my name, but it was more shaky than normal and she was on her death bed so whatever. I got it a week ago but I haven't opened it yet. I'm waiting for the right time to kind of just wash up but I don't think it will.
• Figured out my aunt's a virgin. Poor b***h.
• This was the first year that I wasn't living in the past. It's all present now. I need to make myself a better writer. I need to read more. I need to pay attention more. I need to sleep less (although this could prove counter-productive).
• Trying to find a way to bypass anger. I'm sick of it. It makes me sick. I'm thinking of maybe adopting the Buddhist doctrine like Krill-Dog. I bought The Tao of Poo a day ago. Teach me, oh wise honey bear.
• Morning Damnation! Which is still lame, but my homeroom bonds over it, so I like it. No divisions. Yet.
• The invention of the "she-date."

When I read "Got a boyfriend (gag)" I immediately started trying to think of who. Sorry...I never saw you two together...
