My Avatars - Image Heavy
This entry houses some of my favorite outfits from 2009. My goal was to make multiple entries throughout the year. I kept pushing it off. The last avatar entry I made was on 11/22/08. <.<; It didn't feel like that long ago. I'm lazier than I thought.
If I have time to hang around the site, I change my avatar throughout the day. This can mean as little as two outfits up to about eight. Over the course of a year, that makes for quite a few avatars. If I like an outfit, I save an image of it to my computer. I don't save all of them, but it adds up.
Cut me some slack here. It's a year's worth of avatars. This is barely a dent in my collection. ;D Don't care to see them? Why'd you click on this entry? It was clearly marked. Exit now. Don't mind? Skim away~ If you see anything you like, no exact copying please. Make it your own. The Go-To Outfit At first, the green/grey was my go to outfit when I needed a quick change. After the picnic set was released, the white/yellow became my go to outfit. I made many variations. The outfits are so simple, I didn't save many of them. Theme Yay, fun. Ever since I'd made the guide, I tried to keep matching outfits on my avatar. End of 09, I didn't care as much so I played around with non-matching and themes. I only do cosplays if an idea comes to mind and I realize I have items that work. If I were more serious about it, my themed avatars would be slightly better. Eh, I like 'em. Simple Matching The lines between the matching categories are blurred. General guidelines. Not much to say here. These are a bit more complex than what i consider to be simple matching. I just don't save many of my simple avatars. The first avatar is one of the first avatars I made after I bought this hairstyle. Layered Matching Largest category since this is where most of my outfits fall. Though not seen in the simple matching above, I consider simple matching to be the kind of matching we did years ago when we had less layers to work with. I consider cluttered matching to be what we all did when we all started realizing that we could equip more and more items at once. I consider layered matching to be something in between. It takes advantage of the many item layers, but doesn't go overboard with texture or anything. My old rule was to never wear an item if it didn't match. Related to that, if I added an item of a different color, I added items that matched it. That changed with the masquerade and the other mouth, contact and makeup poses of other items that we got this year. My rules were now match and have an interesting expression. If my blush didn't match, it didn't match. No worries. Therefore, any avatar that is expressive or has masquerade blush on is most likely newer than those without. Note, before the masq blush, I bought the jenny's doll blush. I added the jenny's blush, along with pink items, to most all of my outfits. If an avatar as jenny's blush and other pink items, it counts as my old style of thinking. Cluttered Matching In the past, I was proud of being able to make cluttered avatars. With all of our layering options now, it's so easy to make cluttered avatars that I grew tired of them. My goal in most of my avatars was to use layers, but keep the general shape of my avatar. Most of these were made just to challenge myself if I was bored and had no other ideas. The last few avis in this category were my attempts at complex matching. The kind that's cluttered, but pays attention to texture and usually keeps its humanoid shape. I think I didn't do too bad.
Non/Semi matching 2009 was the first year that I put more thought into my non-matching avatars than I used to. I still made non-matching avatars the years before that, but didn't put as much thought behind them. I just did what i thought looked good. Erm, I pretty much still do that but try to keep a couple things in mind. This first avatar was made when I didn't feel like trying to match the wig. The series of Moira wigged avatars were made... after I got the Moira wig. :3 Lovely item. They were all made before we got closets in our dress up screen. That series shows the progression of three items: Reve Rouille, Lyndexer's Journal and the Masquerade. The items I used depended on what poses I had at the time.
