To quote my roommate:
So, I'm taking a class on myth, fantasy, sci-fi. Each week we read a new novel. I've decided to try and create an Avi to represent each book.
Week 1: Book: Frankenstein Author: Mary Shelley
Avi:
Notes on the avi:This is my version of the brilliant but flawed Victor Frankenstein, dressed from surgery and carrying some of the fresh parts he's gathered. It's hard to see with everything else going on, but I used the missing heart from the Reve Rouille, and I'm rather pleased with the suggestion that Victor might have donated his own heart to his creation - it would certainly explain some of his subsequent actions. The white hair and the ominous smoke are my obligatory horror movie props.
Week 2: Book: Dracula Author: Bram Stoker Avi:
Notes on the avi:
Week 3: Book: Short stories Author: Various Avi:
Notes before the avi: Any week where I’m reading short stories means I have a free week where I can try to make an avi(s) for one or more of the short stories. It also means I can dress the avi however I feel.
Week 4: Book: He, She, It Author: Marge Piercy Avi:
Notes before the avi: This is a take on the Frankenstein tale, so I may or may not have a similar avi to week 1. We’ll have to see once I read the book.
Week 5: Book: Short Stories Author: Various Avi:
Notes Before the avi: Another free week!
Week 6: Book: The Fellowship of the Ring Author: J. R. R. Tolkien Avi:
Notes before the avi: I had this book read to me when I was a little girl. That being said I don’t remember too much. I may want to start investing in elven or wizard gear not.
Week 7: Book: The Martian Chronicles Author: Ray Bradbury Avi:
Notes before the avi: I have no idea for this one.
Week: Spring Break Avi: Notes before the avi: Free week!
Week 8: Book: Snow Crash Author: Neal Stephenson Avi:
Notes before the avi: No idea
Week 9: Film Festival Avi:
Notes before the avi: I may end up basing the avi after one of the movies that we watch. I really don’t know.
Week 10: Book: Dune Author: Frank Herbert Avi:
Notes before the avi: No idea
Week 11: Book: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Author: Douglas Adams Avi:
Notes before the avi: Don’t Panic, towels will be involved.
Week 12: Book: Short stories/person work Author: Various/Me Avi:
Notes before the avi: This is a free week, but I may base it off of one of my own characters. If that’s what happens, and I read the story I’m already working on, then I need to start thinking about green hair. I may also put up a little bio on my character.
Week 13: Book: The Eye of the World Author: Robert Jordan Avi:
Notes before the avi: I’m really not looking foreword reading this one!
Week 14: Exams Avi:
Notes before avi: I may of may not do this, but for now I’m considering reprising my favorite avi or the avi from my favorite read during the course. Of course I may just have a studious looking avi, or a crazy looking one to suit my whims.
The rules to this: 1. I have to wear the avi I created for the book for at least 24 hours. 2. After those 24 hours I can change my avi as much as I want. 3. I can change the avi as much as I want until I decide on the final avi. 4. Just because I’m doing this doesn’t mean I won’t also dress up for other events or whims. 5. I have to post an avi each week 6. Avis will not be created until after at least 1 class period has past, and after I have cracked open the book.
Let’s see how long I can keep up with this!
