Happy Anni Gaia! =D
[announcement]
Gaia celebrated its 7th anniversary. Yay~
There was no major event, but Gaia did open up a dedicated event forum for people to talk in. Lanzer said a few words, and a youtube vid was provided. The vid followed water meat as various Gaia staff tossed him between each other, taking the time to say happy birthday to Gaia and thank the users. I thought it was cute.
You could click on a link to obtain the Gaia 7th anniversary lucky envelope. From there, you can choose to obtain either the phee-chan slippers or the radio jack slippers.
Shows how Gaia's changing, eh? I know that we already got kiki and coco slippers, but these are two fairly new characters compared to how old Gaia is. The slippers are cute. They're tiny. I swear slippers are either too big or too small. XD; I like that they aren't soulbound and that I got to choose which item I got.
EIR
[announcement]
Mizuchi's Jewel had its third evo and Seidh's Compass got its first evo. Not much to say here, both were very nice.
Timmy is at the end of his quest, and he found Lanzer's giant head in the sky. Users can vote for one of three options:
Timmy can have a happy, normal childhood
be turned into an evolving item
Or Dr Singh can be repaid with divine punishment
Of course, the EI option is currently winning because people go sparkly eyed when they see the words "evolving item." Now, if they truly love Timmy and want him as an item, that's one thing. But most comments I saw that day were, "yay EIs!" "I love EIs" "I wonder what Timmy will be like as an EI!"
...seriously? They wonder? He's already been a human EI, and most transformations have been ugly. While the addition of poses into the Gaia arsenal of cosplay items is always needed... uhhhh... I, personally, don't want an ugly EI. I also feel sorry for the poor kid. Kid. I want him to have a happy childhood. ; .;
I clicked on the voting thread again today, and most people are saying happy childhood. Hopefully that option can catch up. <.< >.>
If Timmy were to be immortalized as an EI and live a happy childhood through it, I'd be kind of content with that~
Alice in Wonderland
[announcement]
I already mentioned this in my last entry, but.. Alice in Wonderland! : D
Today is 2/22/10 and the movie comes out here on 03/05/10. Everyone keeps saying that Tim Burton will finally do justice to the books. Well, I've read the two books, and his version looks a lot more insane to me. XD But anyway~ yay, go Gaia! Gaia got a Disney Sponsor. o: If we had any Disney movie sponsorships before, they sure weren't as big as this movie.
You can watch a trailer to earn a little blue 'drink me' bottle. :3 You can also enter a small virtual space dedicated to the movie. First room: Click on drink me bottle. Your avi shrinks and the bg grows. I love that effect they threw in. Second Room: Very pretty, but you walk right through to the. Third Room: Alice stands in the corner, making faces at you. (Different emoticons flash above her avatar.) Mimic her ten times in a row and you earn the Mad Hatter's hat. She doesn't show the same emote to everyone, so it looks crazy in a room full of people.
2/19/10 New RIG: Poseidon's Legacy
[Item Thread] [Announcement]
Oh that silly Logan, hyuk. Logan receives a mystical scroll from the Legendary Poseidon, mistakes him for a mermaid, and we're off~
Lots of neat items.
I haven't played this RIG. From what I hear, the "fail" items automatically make you sell them for gold. Angers people since they don't like getting small gold rewards, they'd rather have items. Reapersun addressed this saying that they try new things with each RIG, failed concepts aren't used again while popular concepts are kept. Well, she used different wording, but that's the gist.
People are complaining that most of the new items from this RIG are over 200k. It's an expensive bunch of items. This is because there are no fail items. No cheap fail items. Only wins. ...or little bits of gold when you fail.
My zOMG Progress
The other day, I beat Stone Coatl. o wo It wasn't easy, but it happened.
A couple weeks ago, Memo and Skye invited me to zOMG with them. They were going to fight Stone Coatl. That sounded like fun. I found out that I didn't have the Stone Coatl quest, and had to run the gauntlet first. They kindly showed me where to go, and, as they waited for me and my lag to run the gauntlet, my computer died. x .x;
Last Friday 2/20, they invited me again. As a test, I'd already run through the gauntlet just fine and had gotten the stone coatl quest. I thought everything would work out just fine. ...Nope. About two minutes into the fight, my laptop shut off again. And it was going well too! ; .; I had no lag. No warning.
The common denominator was that I'd clicked the "pre-render monsters" both of those times. I know my problem is related to my 1 GB of ram-ness. On 2/21, I borrowed a family member's laptop (2 GB) to check some things out. For one thing, zOMG runs smoothly on their laptop. For another, prerendered zOMG used about 1.5 GB of ram and regular used about 1.3 GB.
While I was testing, I was invited by a group to play Stone Coatl. I couldn't resist since I was on a laptop that could handle it. o wo I had on an okay setup, so I thought I'd go for it. I was CL 10. Their lowest member was around cl 8.2 or so, so I said we'd all have to drop cl before starting, or else we'd die. I explained that entering at the same level makes the instance set at that level and we'd all have a chance to survive. I didn't see people change their levels. And, before I changed mine, the instance was started. x .x Uh oh, I messed that run up for them. I popped in with them and, sure enough, we died within a minute. XD There were four of us. Two died rather quickly, one could stay alive and I was alive. I was trying to heal those I could, but soon I died too. My bad. (Maybe there were five of us here too.) From past playing experience, I'd learned that it doesn't pay to go in with one high level in a group of low levels. The low levels can't survive, and soon you're left as one person trying to fight off monsters set for many. You get lower rewards for playing at a lower level, but at least you all survive.
Anyway, second round. Two others from the last group stayed. I was made leader. x .x Scary. I usually don't like to play leader. ...Especially in this case, when I had no clue of what to expect from Stone Coatl. Of the three of us, the lowest CL was 8.7. We all became CL 8.7 and we were set! We left the null chamber and returned to stand outside the throne room.
I guess I didn't explain the concept of CL changing very well since one member dropped back down to 8.2 once we got outside the there. u .u;; While standing out there and trying to figure out our levels, a guy asked us why we were all the same CL. I explained. He asked to join. He said he was CL 10.0 and was skilled at killing monsters. I said he could join as long as he dropped his CL to 8.7 also, and he agreed to. At this time, our CL 8.2 person ran back to the null so she could raise back up to 8.7 again. Another person asked to join, the other members said add her, so I did. We were now a crew of Five. :3
At this point, we had three people at the throne room, two off at other places. One person had already explained that she was making dinner, so her slowness was excused. The other was running that loooong trip to the null and back.
I made the guy leader. I knew nothing about Stone Coatl. He said he played it all the time, so I figured it was best to have someone experienced as the leader. The last girl who joined spoke up. Her CL was 7.8 and she asked that we drop to her level. So we did. (Meaning that the girl running off to the null has done so all for nothing.)
Now, we're all 7.8. Four people are at the throne room. The dinner-maker is still not in our square, but is alive and well, has dropped her CL and his on her way.
The leader started the instance. I assumed he just felt like waiting at the entrance. You know, how people can wait at the entrance and the instance won't start as long as no one moves too far into the room. It's a good place to sit. As long as no one moves, you can wait for everyone to load in without having to fight the monsters that spawn outside the entrance. Once everyone's in, everyone can buff up. Once everyone's ready, the leader cue's start and you're off~
Well, no, that didn't happen. The instance started. I loaded in to find him already attacking monsters. I figured I should help since the others should be on their way in. Apparently the null-crystal person loaded in, but was dazed. She sat in the top left corner and we could not reach her. The other two outside died. They asked why we left them out there. I couldn't fight and explain at the same time. I didn't leave them out there, I thought they were loading in with us! u .u;
This left two of us fighting in an instance made for five. I think the two dazed people outside were waiting to be defibbed? I don't know, but they stayed dead for a while. The dazed girl in the corner kept asking if we could see her and saying she couldn't move. I told her to return to the null and then come back to us, she finally did. Actually, since they all returned at about the same time, maybe she defibbed the two outside? Dunno.
Their return was glorious! It was so uplifting to see crew members rush into battle. Glorious! The backups had arrived! Good thing too, 'cause the stone coatl decided to start attacking us at that time too. I think someone died once? But we raised them and it was all good. In the end, we actually beat stone coatl, with all of us alive and in the throne room. What a night! x .x;
I messed up so much that night too. First run, I should have dropped my cl as soon as I said we should. I didn't because we kept standing outside and getting attacked over and over by the mob of monsters that appear. It's so much easier to stay alive and keep others healed when the monsters don't want to attack me. XD;
Second run, I shouldn't have given leadership away. ...Not to someone who started the instance without making sure his crew was ready. We weren't even all in one square! And once inside, he kept using Shout to try to talk to his crew that were all still outside. He was telling them to come in. Well, duh, they can't hear him. XP But, oh well, it was a learning experience.
I got some orbs that night and used some of them. I raised rock armor to cl 9.0. I think I used orbs on something else, but I don't remember. I'll record it all later when I have a comp that can handle zOMG.

I'm might try that if I get desperate for gold, but I shiver at the thought of rallies. I've gone in there to click prize wheels. And in the short time that takes, I've seen a lot of things. No full on cybering, but I'm sure the people think they're cybering. XD;
I've seen things like,
girl: you're hot (to a random, generic avatar)
boy: ty
girl: wat about me
boy: ur hot
girl: ty
girl: want to make out
boy sure
girl: you know how rite
girl: ?
boy: ya
(At this point, I'm like.. DX Ewwwww. And then, before I could x out, emoticons appeared over their heads. They just kept clicking the kiss emote over and over. XDD ) And here I thought they were going to go into typed details or something. But yeah, most of the speech bubbles I see consist of the words, "ur hot."
For one thing, there are people with varying levels of clothing and wealth in Rallies. The rich kids stick in one group, mostly... as people type "gee ur rich" over and over in front of them. And the two kids in my story up there were pretty generic. Girl had on a bikini top and short shorts. ...but otherwise was a generic chibi avatar. The guy had on a castaway shirt with a generic pair of pants. That.. could have been hot, but he also just had a generic chibi avatar. Chibis aren't hot, they're cute. XD; Maaaybe items can alter a chibi to look more hot than cute, but their faces were definitely chibi cute. I just don't see it. Or maybe chibi-cute pixels look hot to them? Guess so. :} Anyway, yeah, the Rally is not for me.

Most of the journals will log the big updates and feelings of the times. I plan to look back on these in the future. Some large change affecting our lives now usually often turns into something we rarely think about.
