Curse this entry for being 5 minutes late. I was on the phone with Josh and didn't realize I hadn't put one in for Thanksgiving yet.
I woke up bright and early for once, considering I'd been up all night on the computer. My dad pretty much jumped on my face to get me up, since I was personally ignoring his calls from downstairs to get ready.
When I dragged myself to the living room after taking like a 45 minute shower, it was apparent everyone else had been up for a while. I really hate being the last one up. I used to be the first one up, always enjoying beating everyone else.
The turkey was in the oven, and Kelly was just setting up everything else, so for the most part, I stayed out of the kitchen except for if she needed me. I went on Gaia for the most part, to see how everyone was else was doing with their time.
I was browsing through the net, and I came across an article in the New York Times. It was a full page ad, asking for people to adopt a turkey as a pet this year, instead of cooking and eating one. It seemed a little late for them to be asking people of this now, of all times. They should have started publishing this ad around October. That, and I found out that Benjamin Franklin had originally suggested that the turkey be our country's bird. Man, we would have looked weak had that vote gone through. Franklin should have stuck with flying kites.
I suddenly had a rebellious feeling about turkeys being killed and eaten, being the sensitive guy I am. I think if it wasn't for the fact that this was gonna be the first time Kelly had cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving herself, I doubt I would have eaten any. Still, I had some to please her, which was a very good meal. I enojoyed the pie the most though, and when we had to give our little "I'm Thankful For" speeches, I added in my head I was grateful this turkey gave his life to add to ours on this day, and I decided I would be a little more grateful for a lot of things people do for me.
Russell's spending the night as well. He's supposed to head over to Sonja's to have dinner with her family, apparently everyone's busy today so they're eating on Friday. Black Friday. *shudder*
