The etiquette of SS/EB
This contains battle strategy, not spoilers. But skip this if you're worried about spoilers. ;3
0.5. Make sure you set enough time aside for SS/EB. I haven't timed it, but make sure you have about two hours set aside for one run. Less time if you don't collect all the chests. More time if people keep dazing.
1. Agree on whether you're going for the chests or not. I, personally, like the chests. In two of my runs, I was the one who kept getting all the orb reward. > <; I think I got ~300 on my second and third round. I only got about 100 orbs on my last run. It's faster if you don't get all of them.
2. When you enter the dark tunnel with the robofish, stay together! Do not try to run ahead. Fight from screen to screen and it's easy. Try to run for it and you all die. ...Or if half of your people die, there's no way to go back to them unless you daze and run back through.
3. Switches. There are three switches you will have to trip at the same time. (The smallest crew number for EB is therefore three members.) Clear the area of monsters first. Do not hit the chief or the nexus monsters.
I'm not sure why you don't kill the chiefs. But I heard that killing the nexus makes all the monsters respawn.
4. Decide who will go to each switch. In a crew of six, it's best to have two people at each switch.
Have one person count down. People seem to prefer to count down to zero and to click the switch on zero. It's best if the counter is not the one who clicks the switch.
If the switch override is unsuccessful, monsters will appear at each switch.
5. EB.
Part One: Tail
Stay in the lower left corner. Do not step on the glass. Hit the tail with long-ranged attacks only.
If one person steps on the glass, everyone gets rooted to the spot and gets damaged. It's possible to walk on the glass... if you do it right and come from behind.
Run in circles to avoid the rockets after the tail is defeated.
Part Two: Body and Arms
Hit the body only. The second form dies once the body is destroyed. The arms don't matter. Hitting the arms only wastes time and stamina.
Avoid the rockets if possible.
You will be put to sleep.
Part Three: Head
Attack and avoid the rockets. No strategy here. Just survive.
Once it's over, be sure to click through all of the talking. Do not just x out the talking. You won't get an item if you do. You must "read" all of the text before you're granted your recipe. :3
The recipes were supposed to be random, but they aren't now. You get the two fluff recipes, then the mech lab bot and then the sinister scarf. Yep, you must beat the EB four times to receive the scarf.
=================
After months of casual play, I've finally gotten the sinister scarf. =D
Its current mp value is 130k. The recipe costs 40g to make, you don't need the ingredients listed on the in-game zOMG recipe screen.
My plans were to equip the scarf instantly, but I actually like my current avatar. I'll wear it later. o wo
EB First round: I was lucky. I joined a crew that already had all the switches clicked. Too bad none of them knew the tricks. We had a tough time, but beat it.
We tried again a couple times, failed. Level: Unsure. > <;;
EB2: Went in with Azurae, Memo, Kumi and two random people. Luckily, the two random people knew the way and all the tricks. Luckily for them, Azu, Memo, Kumi and I can all follow directions. >3 It was a pretty easy fight. Lots of dazed people, but they were raised quickly. Level: Hard
EB3: Joined with a random crew. Luckily again, two people knew their stuff. The people at least followed direction after being told a couple times. So, it was all good. Rather easy. .....Actually, we lost a person. Someone went back for a replacement. We were at the switches. ....When Kumi and I ran to go to the first switch, we ran through monsters. u .u; I dazed! D; I never daze. But we recovered and the boss fight was easy. Level: Normal
EB4: Fresh off my third run, I went for a fourth. I was too close to the scarf to stop! D; The people are the type that don't follow directions well, but they all had done EB before. The fight was... annoying. The only thing that kept me going was the thought of the scarf. Our switches failed three times.
First time, me I think. The labtech guy kept talking and the words popped up right before I clicked. That must be what happened, because I know I clicked on zero.
Second Time, Gaia lagged right before zero. D: We had about a 45 second pause... only to find out the switches were unsuccessful.
Third time, The guy started the countdown quickly before making sure people were ready. One person didn't see the countdown.
Fourth time, we were in! =D The fight went rather quickly. Level: Normal.
I now have about 1400 orbs and quite a few rings to salvage. I have all 40 rings at cl 10 and even have sweetheart. I hear that there will be a small zOMG update soon that will bring recipes that actually have fail rates and such. Sounds interesting.
My current ring set is usually:
solar, mantis/hack, fire rain/hack, coy, bandage, defib/sphere, sweetheart/div, meat
If I don't need AOE rings, I carry solar, mantis and hack. If I need an AOE ring (usually do), I carry solar, mantis, fire rain. If I'm in a boss fight where more ammo is needed, I carry solar, hack, fire rain.
I always carry bandage and meat.
I always carry coy unless someone else has it.
If I solo, I carry div. If I'm in a crew, I don't bring div because someone else always has it (usually Kumi).
If I'm in Otami or SS/EB, I carry defib. Otherwise, the ring is useless. No one dies.
I don't like carrying sweetheart. It's annoying to buff each person one by one. If the person doesn't have meat, I try to keep an rr4 sweetheart on them. It's annoying. I'm constantly rebuffing people as the buffs drop. I never get to save rage for fire rain.
My normal SS/EB setup is currently: solar, hack, fire rain, coy, bandage, defib, sweetheart, meat.
My ideal setup is: solar, mantis, fire rain, coy, bandage, sphere, div, meat.
I love coy's luck boost and I love div's luck boost.

Most of the journals will log the big updates and feelings of the times. I plan to look back on these in the future. Some large change affecting our lives now usually often turns into something we rarely think about.
