Abernock was a booming Seaside Port on the outer most rim of the country. It attracted Pirates, Cutthroats, Swashbucklers an' of course, those who were eagerly seeking a life away from the Iron fist of the warring lords in the inlands. Constant warfare ravaged the inner most countryside as warlords fought amongst themselves.
Villages were burned. Men disappeared as a daily habit. Women and children flocked to the safe haven of Abernock. From the coastline the city's gates were as through they had risen up from below the earth's crust itself, stones of marble and greystone that were nearly touching the sky. The gates were of a bronze metal that swung open at the order of the Garrison commander. The Citedal was breathtaking, perched high above the port docks below near the crashing of the waves upon the reefs.
Inside the gates of the Port of Abernock, the city was thrivin'. Men an' women yelled out their wares as they lined the streets of the city, vendors jostled each other jovially and were rather polite for being an expansive city inside the gates.
This was just the middle town of Abernock. Where street vendors lived amongst the business merchants who traded or hoarded their wares to be bought at outrageous prices should the war outside ever end. Men and women worked together for a common cause to live in peace inside the city of Abernock, confiden that their Garrison Commander had everything under control.
There was the Citedal where the wealthiest of the citizens lived in seemingly transparent houses with individual windows the height of the gates itself. Young ones dressed in their formal attire watched through the windows at the carefree children below, laughing and playing amongst the vendors.
Then there was the Low Seaside. Half of the seaside was overrun with rottin' fishin' ships which had never left the port harbor. Fishermen collected empty traps day in and day out, muttering to themselves of how bad times were. These were the ones caught directly under the Citedal themselves, watched by the patrolling foot soldiers who watched this side of the Port.. the seedy section closely.
On the other side of the Port Low Seaside was the Piratin' world. Pirates were welcomed here, large an' small ships alike were anchored side by side in the harbor as their respective captains found likings in town. One ship remained out from the others, its nose pointed out to sea. Twas the Jolly Q, captained by a woman.
And its Captain was currently residin' in the Scurvy Dog alone.
