Salathielly's Commonplace Log
Man, I like both of this month's MCs!
To recap yesterday:

Got a cinnamon crunch bagel and a frozen mocha at Panera. Mmm, tasty. Then went to Half Price Books (had a coupon) and proceeded to spend a lot of money on mythology books (a lot of Chinese-related stuff including some history), some general symbol and mythology books, and some manga - they had volumes 1, 2, 4, and 5 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and volume 3 of xxxHOLiC (as well as volume 4 of GetBackers). Then I got quarters from the bank so that I can do laundry. Next I went to Kohl's (another coupon) and got dress shirts and underwear. The Barnes and Noble store (yet another coupon) that I thought was closest to me was closed, so I went to another store. I was going to get more manga, but I discovered that it was cheaper to buy online, so instead I got a shiny, shiny CLAMP artbook of Tsubasa, a book on Celtic mythology, and a planner because my supervisor thought I should have one.

Then I came home and ordered manga online (Kuroshitsuji, the first two volumes, and a couple TRC and xxxHOLiC) and bagged up a bunch of my old clothes that don't really fit to put in the storage unit.

And then I went to an American Legion post (since it was Armed Forces Day and my supervisor wanted me to do something) and sat through four hours of karaoke. It was rather awkward at first, as I was sitting with a bunch of older men and women who were complete strangers, none of whom understood why I was there (not that I really did myself), but I think they kind of warmed up to me. They were very friendly for the most part. I complimented one couple on their dancing, and the next thing I knew, the husband had grabbed me to dance (I was taller than him and had never danced a two-step in my life, but it kind of worked). A gentleman had written a book on his experiences in the Korean War and gave me an (autographed) copy. I tried to compliment all of the singers. I "convinced" one guy to sing the Monster Mash song. At the end we all held hands and stood in a circle and sang "God Bless the USA". I kid you not. It was...special...but better than I thought it would be. I still need to work on being social...

Today so far I've gone for a walk (yay nice weather!) and talked to my parents on the phone.
