"What would you say if an Angel approached you one day with a message?"
When I was younger I was once approached by and older woman who asked me this very question. Of course, one only knows why she picked me of all people to ask. It was around Christmas, so that may explain why she chose to ask that particular question. Why she picked me to ask, still baffles me to this very day.
My response, if your curious enough to wonder was, "I would tell them to skip to the next person on the list." She seemed confused by my response and added, "What if they came bearing a message from God?" To that I responded, "That would not change my answer." She looked confused again and asked me why. And here is what I said:
"Why would I wish to take a message from a man who's followers comit unspeakable acts in his name? Why should I accept a warning from a man who's followers use him as an accuse to hate people who have done them no wrong? In his bible it speaks of him loving all people and that his followers should also love, but they tend to add a 'except you' to the end. Do you know how many people tend to sneer at me when I speak about my girlfriend? Because my love is different from what they see as the norm, they condem me and tell me I'm going to Hell.
How is loving someone so much that you would willingly die for them a sin, no matter the gender? I love, therefore I am damned. Tell me does God hate me because I love without care for my partners gender or views? Or is it not God who hates me, but close-minded people who fear what is different and what they don't understand? Is there even a distinction between the two?
If so, why is it his follows use his name to condem me as well as punish me as they see fit, when they have already stated that God will punish me for my sins? God must be a man or an idea if a group of, normal mortal people, can say without a doubt I will be go to Hell as they insult me and my love.
So to answer your question; If an Angel were to walk up to me and tell me they had a message from God, I would politly, mind you, tell them to skip me and move on, because I have no use for anything he has to say."
Having said that, I side stepped her and left without a backward glance.
You may be wondering why I would chose to bring this up now, instead of years ago. Well to answer you, I recently saw the older woman again at a store I was shopping in and she looked a bit worse for wear. She wasn't the same perfectly postured woman I met the first time, but I knew it was her because she approached me once again to say, 'I'm Sorry' before leaving me to my shopping.
