It’s one day from Christmas and nothing is done.
No gifts have been bought for a specific loved one.
I race through the traffic and clamber through stores.
When all’s said and done, I’ve been through ten wars.

Now it’s Christmas Eve and it’s time to start wrapping,
But I only begin once my wife starts her napping.
Then out come the glitter and bring forth the bows.
When all’s said and done, presents sitting in rows.

As I crawl into bed and I pull up the covers,
I think of how happy I am we are lovers.
I end my night with a kiss on her cheek.
When all’s said and done, I am soundly asleep.

I awake in the morning with a nudge from my love,
And the smile I see must be heaven above.
We travel to the tree which is tall and quite round.
When all’s said and done, No present was unfound.

And what means the most to us on Christmas day?
It isn’t the gifts or the games that we play.
The answer’s quite simple for when the last carol’s sung,
All that’s left is true love, when all’s said and done
